I have a question about the air system on my '06 MXS Acert engine. I have seen similar problems on other threads but could not find an answer.
First off if I'm pulling a hill and the compressor kicks in, I lose 5 lbs. of boost or so. Then when the air dryer pops off the boost comes back. Is this normal operation or do I have a problem with the reed valve in the air box?
Also, with the engine shut off if I remove the oil fill cap I can hear a small amount of air leaking from inside the crankcase. I don't believe it does it all the time but have noticed this a couple of times.
Thanks in advance and I enjoy reading all the roundtable/steering wheel discussions on here.

I have an e model cat and it would do the same thing, lose boost on a pull and the valve would pop off and boom boost was back. Everyone thought I was crazy and that it was in my head. Long story short I ended up going through 3 governors new airlines and 2 air dryers. I made a fitting to rig up to the compressor and pressurized and found out the valve was sticking. I took the airline to the dryer off and sprayed wd-40 and it work, but they had sent me a new under warranty so I put it on and it's been working ever since. Hope this helps

So the valve that pops off in the air dryer was sticking? When you disconnected the line you shot wd-40 in towards the air dryer?
I had an issue this summer with the pop-off valve sticking open and not letting the truck build up pressure. I cleaned it out with some spray and it just went away one day so I figured it just had dirt in it. I may need a rebuild on the air dryer but didn't want to start throwing parts at it. I'll try some wd-40 and see what that does. -

Make sure the heater element is working in the dryer too.
