i've been with May a little over a month now, here's a little story that happened to me today that just blew me away:

    Yesterday, 11/15/2010
i pickup a load from Woodland,ca bound for Auburn,wa. i've requested time off, AWAY from my home terminal to visit my father for an early Thanksgiving. time off request was aprooved for Nov 17th-20th in Pasco,Wa

i arrive in Canyonville,OR the night of the 15th and pull into the 7 feathers truck stop for my 10hr.

    Today, 11/16/2010
i awake from my 10hr well rested, my load is not scheduled to deliver till the following afternoon, 11/17/2010 at 17:30 (5:30pm) so i sent a message over the Qualcomm "I can deliver today, will they take my load a day early?" they respond "sorry, it's a live unload and they will not take it before the appt time" so i reply "well than may i change my time off to be 18th-21st to compensate?"

here's where they surprised me: next reply msg from dispatch "Where are you parked? we are going to take your load off you and get you to your fathers on time"

and that's just what they did, about 2 hrs after that message i had swapped trailers with another driver, took his empty to Lebanon,OR to switch that out for a loaded one that i took here to Kennewick,wa where i am typing from right now, so at 3am i will back into the dock here at the Kennewick Lowes and unload, then wait till 10am for my hours to reset and drive over to the Pasco truck stop (15min away) where i will meet with my father. it has been a great day and May went above and beyond (in my eyes) to get me to my fathers ON TIME. i can't thank them enough. i havn't seen my dad since last February, almost a year.

Funny you mentioned that Y2K, actually my DM is KRIS who was out for a few weeks, i heard he was having some sort of surgery. so i had Annalisha at the time. i'm here in Pasco visiting with family now, had my uncle, aunt, and cousins over for an early Thanksgiving yesterday. i think my cousins know more about my truck than i do, and they're younguns, i think about 4 and 7, but right out of the gate they were yelling "PETERBILT! YEP THAT'S A PETERBILT TRUCK!" haha gotta love those boys. great to have a company that lets me take time off to see my family in other states.

I think this is a great idea for a thread Preston! I think more drivers should share how May trucking company has gone beyond the norm! I have so many stories I wouldn't know where to begin. Take care brother!

Now that's a DM I'd be happy to do favors for (short runs, bad locations.. the legal stuff).

That's what I like about May. I'm out of Denver but my Sis and Mom live in Vegas. When I've asked for time off in Vegas or else for to visit w/ friend I can always count on getting that time. And for such I am willing to help out my DM whenever she needs my help. In fact, Misti was covering Denver on sat and asked me if I could do a yard list. I said of course, not expecting anything in return. When I got to my truck on Sunday, I found a PO for $20 for a Spirit award. Totally unexpected!! I also got one for helping out another driver having issues getting his truck legal. Once again totally unexpected.

I had a few of those $20 spirit awards myself, one for taking a driver from Phx to Lebanon (even though he ended up switching to another truck when i got to Dunnigan) a few more for other various things, i actually got one just because i hadn't eaten haha.

DM: "When's the last time you had something to eat?"
Me: " 'Bout 2 days ago..."
DM: "WTF MAN!? here! go get some F%#&!ng subway or something!"
    *DING* $20

    hahaha
