First off, I am so sorry this happened and will pray for the family. Secondly...when will these speeding drivers slow down? Every day out here we see drivers going too fast around curves, too fast on entrance and exit ramps and even too fast in parking lots of shippers, receivers and truck stops. No amount of money, no load, is worth our lives or God forbid, someone else's. Please drivers....SLOW DOWN!

I hate to hear stories like this. I agree, drivers have to slow down especially on ramps and even more so when pulling a tanker.

Condolences to the family. Not too long ago me and my wife were site-seeing up on Loveland Pass--aka HC route for the truckers,up and over the tunnel. It amazed me how many tankers i saw hammering down that pass...

do you think that maybe one reason that these drivers are going fast is because a) they have driven that road many times, b) they have become over confident in their truck, themselves and load? c) they think that it won't happen to them... ok, that was more than one but there is never a good reason imho

and I can bet you that they probably get mad at seeing others drive fast as well but do the same, you know..

Sorry to hear this driver died tho. prayers for his family.

That is sad. I saw a tanker in CA years back on I 5 go kaboom when a car cut between the tractor andd the pup and it killed six people. Horrifying and I can remember the smell too, not of gasoline either. The truck was going straight and it happened under an overpass.

I drive a tanker (water) in the oil fields. But you could not pay me enough to drive a 80,000lb moving coffin..

I do not have any statistic's to support this, but I bet more semi drivers die in rigs other than fuel tankers..............

That's true because there are more of them. But like any kind of trucker there are good and bad ones. I see plenty of tankers speeding and tailgating just because they get comfortable at it and drop their guard.

Anytime I pull hazmat, my guard is twice as high. The two seconds he tried to save cost him his life.

    RIP driver!

I saw your post stating you pull a water tanker. If you don't mind if you could help me out on a couple questions. Do we need a 3rd axle on our truck to haul a water tanker?, What is the preferred brand of tanker, What kind of pump is needed? and finally How much on an average fuel do you use per day. We are looking at putting 2 of our trucks out there and buying 2 tankers and could use some help from somebody whos an experienced water tank driver. Thank you so much. Mary
