Just wondering if any of you haul liquid propane. I'm looking at taking a local gig doing just that and was wondering what you could tell me.
Anybody here haul liquid propane?

I'd call ya nuts, but that's just me!

I put that right up there with pulling a fuel tanker . . . there isn't enough money in the world to get me to drag a mobile bomb!
If it's anything like pulling tanker, easy on your take offs and stops. My dad told me that much!outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Hauling LPG is a piece of cake. Toughest part of the job is "dragging your hose all over town". Will you be doing residential deliveries? Always chock the wheels!outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

Nuts? That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day!
I ain't worried about that bomb thing it's not really like that anyway. My step-brother pulled a gas tanker for years. I look at it like this. I can go do this and work 50-60 hours a week, be home every night and make more than I can being gone from home for weeks on end. A no-brainer if ya ask me. I was really just wanting some insight on it.

Yep mainly residential deliveries out in the county/rural areas. -
Got to love the bomb comments when every truck on the road has 2 big tanks of fuel right underneath the drivers butt.SheepDog, outerspacehillbilly, hunts2much and 1 other person Thank this.

Yeah well it makes a great trucker story don't it?
Just having a little fun lilbit.

But ya gotta remember that the best trucker stories start out with 'Y'all ain't gonna believe this . . . '!

I know ya was just having a bit of fun! So was I!
If you can be at home every night and make good money, go for it! -
Easy job, load # the terminal I assume (be sure to ALWAYS attach ground cable and chock wheels) and go house to house/drop tp drop. I believe you have to do a declining tally of your tank contents so every time you deliver 100 gallons you delete that on your paperwork from the original loaded volume. You do this so that if there is an incident they know exactly how much LPG is left in the tank. Remember, the more you take out of the tank the more the LPG left in the tank will slosh and cause you to move at times. Toughest part of the job is dragging your hose through the snow. Propane will freeze skin so ALWAYS wear safety glasses and gloves.hunts2much, outerspacehillbilly, Strider and 1 other person Thank this.

Are you plan on running as a delivery driver or bulk transport. I ran LPG bulk transport(18 wheeler for 1 1/2 years.) I loved it, It was the easiest loading and unloading I have ever done. Hook up a vapor and product hose, start the pump open some tank valves and let it role. The challenging part is getting in and out of the delivery sites. There like obstacle courses and calculating temp and gravity to get 80.000 on your truck without going over. Off couse I was a gasoline tanker driver for 10 years before that. Good luck.
DesertNightRider and outerspacehillbilly Thank this.
