Couldn't agre with you more! Kinda relates to something one office told me which was that, sometimes there's funds available but not for a CDL because so many people were abusing it. She said people were getting the money, going to schools, gettiny jobs and then quitting or being fired because of MVR's or just becuase they thought trucking would be easy. Now there's no money for those of us who could really use it.ursus Thanks this.

I made some comments earlier in this thread that come off as crass, but you've confirmed why I feel the way I do.. I saved money on my own to do what I needed to do so I was not gonna blow it right.. 9 years later I'm still on the road..

I'm that one in a hundred. Lived a fabulous life, mid 6 figure salary in a foreign country. (Born American) allowed me to support multiple residences in the world, and due to my mother going into a coma back here in the US, even with health insurance. Her out of pocket was so high, that she ended up having to file bankruptcy twice, in 2 years. Getting sick once a year. At years 3 and 4, I've been forced to sell all of my international holdings, some of them worth about as much as I originally paid, others taking a big increase in value, others decreasing.
Now we've even taken out a mortgage on her property, which was paid off in full 15 years ago.
Working days at one point was next to impossible for long periods of time because of her health needs. Now everything has come to a screeching halt. This living situation has caused severe strains on my marriage. I agreed to give my spouse everything in the divorce, including, my mother. But they have to take full care of her like I did, and I will pay alimony as long as my mother is alive. I'm doing trucking for a few years, get the cash in my pocket and going to Europe again.
It would be nice not having to owe anything, and let the goverment take care of it. But then again, I believe in socialism. But as it is, I'm taking a loan out for mine for $3800.00
Illinois doesn't seem to have this program at all. -
Did u really revive this thread to call someone a moron? That says a lot...
BigJohn54 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
I just finished my first week in school funded by the W.I.A. Do I feel like a free loader? No more than the fat cats on Wall Street who are still playing golf at their private country clubs; sipping cognac with their buddies; whose children are still in private schools and colleges; still live in their multi million dollar homes; and who basically got rewarded for running their companies in the ground.
If you are unemployed and qualify for W, I.A. funding then you is crazy for not excepting it. A few thousand dollars each to train people who are willing to work is nothing compared to the billions our last and present administrations used for bail-outs people who didnt work.
Besides, becoming a productive worker you will more than generate future revenues for our country than what you will receive.
Sorry, this is a sore spot with me -
You lost your own mother in the divorce?!!? You must have had the worst divorce lawyer money can buy.
BigJohn54, wulfman75 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
I know this thread is a year old, but does anyone know if the WIA is still available in california?
