I think Ironrider answered the questions you asked. I add this - be sure (very sure) you are ok with being alone all the time. It can be a very lonely job if you allow it too! I'm just saying..........
Once out with your trainer - you'll know pretty quick if this is for you or not. It's not a job that you just "tolerate". You either love it or you hate it. People cant make deadlines, cant manage their time and cant manage themselves and then they blame Millis for that. If you dont have a sense of work ethic - dont do it!
Welcome aboard and hope to meet you out there one day!

Wow - finally some time to update....man the time is flying by!
Well after a snowy (cold as crap) reset in Indiana I made my delivery in Chicago with no issues. Once I got west of Gary Indiana there was nothing on the ground - just bitter cold! So cold in fact - even the Crack-###### in Chicago were staying in.
Once unloaded in Chicago - I DH to Bolingbrook, IL and grabbed a load going to Cin, OH. I had bought a company coat so I assume my dispatched routed me thru Trenton so I could pick it up! (Thanks to Bill for picking this up for me from BRF). Got into Trenton late that night but got my coat and called it a night.
Delivered that load into Cin, Oh and immediately got a load picking up back in Trenton going to Eden, NC. Easy run and got it to Eden that night. The next morning I get a load from Eden heading to Milwaukee, WI - right into the pending snow/Ice storm!
Head out of Eden late due to load not ready and get to Jackson, OH and shut down for the night. I get up at 2am and head out thinking I can beat the storm - NOPE I hit snow about an hour west of Jackson and was in it knee deep all the way through to I70. The snow doesnt bother me too much as I can still get traction if I go slow. It's the ice that scares the crap out of me. All was well until I got on I70 going west. Had a "full-grown" on the CB telling all West Bound to slow down due to a really icy patch just ahead. I back it down to about 15 as does most everyone else. Well all except the two "Super Truckers" that went past me at 50MPH. Not more than 2 miles ahead of me - yep....they both jack-knifed their rigs (I have it on video too) I 5 hr trip turned into an 8 hr trip but made it too Ritchfield that evening. I was flat worn out from being so intense all day with the weather.
Get up early the next morning and deliver the load to beat the downtown traffic......then cant find an empty at the brewery. So send a message that I am going to West Allis lot and look for an empty and if nothing there I'll check Ritchfield. Get a message back saying to "check W/A first".....Duh! Got to W/A - no empties so I head back to Ritchfield and find an empty.....send in my empty number and get a load. IT'S A LOADED TRAILER SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO ME! Why the hell did you have me going all over looking for an empty if you were going to give me a loaded trailer????? Anyway - head out for Hebron, KY to Amazon.
Get to Amazon around 5pm (est) but have delivery appointment for 11PM that evening. Check in with the guard (hoping) but to no avail. Have to wait to 11 to get a dock assigment. So I sit, make dinner, watch TV and just wait. Finally at 10;50PM they assign me a dock. Have to wait for the other driver to leave that dock but at least I got a number. Back into the dock around 11:45PM. At 2:30AM they are finally done unloading me. No sooner do I send in my empty message - I get a load that has me DH'ing to Lapel, IN going to Albany, GA. Send a message back that I am out of hrs and will grab in the morning - all good with dispatch and I fall to sleep with no issues!
Next morning get over to Lapel - grab my load and head towards GA. Stopped in Cartersville Sunday morning and ran into Ryeman. We waited for my son to come and meet us at the terminal and then we all went to Hooters and watched the Falcons game! Was a good time.
This morning - hit the road at 2am to make my 7am delivery. Got into Albany at 6:15AM and when I got to the customer there were at least 10 trucks waiting there. I parked, walked into the customer and he immediately assigned me a door. Appears they were all delivering cans and I had glass - YE'HA! Got unloaded and headed to the terminal. Sent in a ready call at 7:30AM and here I still sit at 3:30PM and still no load.
I figured this would be this way since it's almost Christmas and it must be a nightmare trying to get all drivers loads going by their home. So I bob-tailed to the mall and finished my Xmas shopping and just relaxing now hoping to get something out today. If not soon - will grab a nap and run the night run if I get it late today.
Please, Please Please dont be a "super trucker" - take it easy out there and let's all be safe!
No matter how you celibrate the holidays - I hope each of you and your familes have an amazing time together and a very Happy New Year!wulfman75, Gunrunner84, Slick63 and 5 others Thank this. -
Same to ya Baritone, be safe out there driver!

Hey Baritone or anyone else that might know, I seen another Millis truck today in my neck of the woods and was just wondering does the colors of the trucks mean anything. So far the ones that I have seen have all been white with the logos and everthing but I know your truck is maroon.
-
White trucks are the regional guys. There are also burgandy regionals with half bunks. The rest are over the road drivers. You will also notice that in Texas some of the regional guys will be pull 45' split axle trailers.
Son of a Trucker Thanks this. -
Got my load picked up yesterday in Piedmont SC and doesnt deliver to Ashton, IL until Monday at 1PM. So I'm headed to the house until Sunday!
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!!!!!! -
