Took my first trip to outside Chicago and my trainer said she had a bad feeling we should keep going, but we stopped for a bathroom at a rest stop 4 miles from our drop at Sam's of TV's from Sony in California.
Wouldn't you know it, we got shut down while in the bathroom. We couldn't move until 5AM, our delivery time. So, got there at 5:30 and the guy at the dock said he wasn't taking it.
She told me she was sure they wouldn't, but maybe someone would give a crap it had been snowing. Nope. She went on to say Sam's is notorious for doing that and that the first time she dropped at a Sam's they told her they had a 4 in the Hole policy. 4 minutes to get it on the dock or they refused the load.
Anyone else have an experience with Sam's?

Was this a Sam's store or a Sam's warehouse? I've never had any problems at either, but at the stores, I've often been able to get unloaded early if they are inside their receiving hours and there are no other trucks there.

rookies training rookies . . . . . .
Ain't Sam's Fault! -
Bet that load will get rescheduled asap. They need the TV's this week. Next week they will have more problems selling them.
Probably some little self appointed god on the dock did this to you. You will find these types from time to time anywhere and everywhere.Starmushrooms Thanks this. -
Four miles from your stop and you didn't wait to get there to use the facilities? :smt017 Maybe you might think about requesting a different trainer? Maybe Sam's is notorious for refusing a load when the driver is notoriously late? With a drop?Starmushrooms Thanks this.

She said she has been to this Sam's a dozen times and they won't let drivers in or park in the lot, so we could stop for the bathroom and the night since we weren't that far.
It was a Sam's warehouse now that I remember correctly. She was pretty mad, this was one of the first times she has been late in 2 years.TruckrsWife Thanks this. -
lol, what got us was there was no snow, BUT, they ordered a shutdown after another Covanent truck rolled on 57. Turns out that guy was texting and driving and ran off the road

still got your miles tho ehhh
-
they probably BOTH got a service failure......and for the student, that ain't good.....rocknroll nik Thanks this.

ok, you "got moving" at 5 AM...?? but it took 30 minutes to drive 4 miles....????
some companies will throw you out if you take TOO long to get into the dock. they are paying those dock workers to stand around and watch someone backing up just ain't gonna happen.
that store probably called your company, and now BOTH of you will get a service failure. you as the student, cannot have this on your file....it's what will get you fired.....so be forewarned....
all the Sam's has to do is take the load when THEY WANT IT. they can refuse it again and again....then have a bigger after x-mas day sale event. in fact, many stores are probably stocking up for the event all this week. if your load was THAT important, they would have taken it....
in the future, DO NOT BE LATE.....make allowances for the weather, accidents, traffic, construction delays. always try to be 30 to 60 minutes EARLY, even if you have to park on an exit ramp, the street, where ever....
one (or both of you) took too much time in the bathroom..."crap and go".....
what's done is done....
