For most companies, its not good. When I started as a team with my ex, we split .32. didnt stay with them long
-
Stevens starts you out at 0.26. This is when you go out on the grad fleet. before then, you receive training pay.
After grad fleet, you go to 0.28 and at one year I think it's 0.30.
When comparing different carriers, be sure and compare miles. Some carriers pay a bit more sooner, but when talking to their drivers, it seems they're getting less miles than Stevens. -
Is stevens good to start with?
-
You're asking on a Stevens board, but my opinion is they are EXCELLENT to start with. They have very thorough training, great equipment, good freight, are financially solid (unlike a lot of companies out there these days), and people that have trained with them are in demand.

Out of school with a trainer you'll make about .12-.14 a mile for all miles driven by both. You'll make about $500-600 a week before all the deductions including the school loan.
You barely survive because all the expenses.
Edited: oops, just seen it's a Stevens thread. Don't know about them. Speaking in general about most others. -
do i pay back the loan or do they?? l was told they pay it back monthly and if i don't stay with the company one full year i am responsible for the entire loan. -
I'm a little confused here. The rsponse you got from Condo is based on another company, not Stevens.
Restate your question and we'll answer it for you. -
If you quit before your contract is up, you are responsible for the entire loan.. Now while employed with Stevens you pay $25 per week, and they pay $25 per week.
Last I heard, they no longer offer the one year deal, where you pay nothing.
