Look, we are getting things mixed up here. This is not the military, this is trucking..a big difference. 99 percent of the time, a driver not making it home is due to dispatcher ignorance or poor planning. A company who fails to get you home for the holidays is a company who fails to do the minimum. There is no reason for a driver not to make it home..period. All these posts about walking 5 flights of stairs with ice on your shoulders and walking 10 miles to school, or these other stories have nothing to do with this drivers situation. There are people on here who post all these 'get over it stories' and 'im better than you for missing 6 christmases in a row' need some serious help..professional help. Either you are miserable to be next to or you have no family to see on the holidays......you just want a pat on the back........follow the bouncing ball, there is no reason to allow a dispatcher to not get you home on the holidays...period....this is not the milatary and dont have time to give someone a pat on the back.....lol, 'get over it'...how miserable it is to be next to someone who says that. No one cares about double time and a half and gi joe stories here......the subject is about getting home ......life is way too short to listen to misery

 

I often wonder why every time I shake the hand of a trucking company recruiter I feel the need to check if my watch and ring are still on my arm and hand!. I also wonder if a used car salesman is more honest then a recruiter!

 

Make no mistake friend,a trucking recruiter is a used car salesman"s salesman...The cream of the crop,er crooked...,I have often wondered who would win in the challenge of truck recruiters vs military recruiters I did my 3 years people,-dont jump on me

 

Hard choice between those two....at least the trucking recruiters I've spoken to did not try to tap dance around questions they didn't know the answers to, they just said "I don't know, but I'll try to find out and let you know."

Navy recruiter (at least the two I dealt with long ago) would dance around them...
