The FMCSA had all these so called listening sessions leading up to these new proposed HOS rule change. It was all a big "dog and pony show" to make the drivers feel like they had a say in these new hours. Give me a freaking break...just like the chance now to respond to the proposed changes. If any of you really think that the politicians and the powers that be I.E. Anne Ferraro and Ray La hood give a #### about what the men and women that have to live with these rules on a day to day basis care what we really have to say. Then your very Naive.
I have over 1.3 million safe miles out here and all these recent changes like CSA, e logs and these new wonderful proposed HOS changes might finally run me out of the industry. Studies have shown that this industry has never been safer, so my question is why change something that ain't broken? Leave it up to the geniuses in Washington that don't have a clue about the day to day operations of this industry to screw it up again. Stepping down off my soap box now.

I haven't seen anywhere that it states 7 days between resets, just that it can only be used once in a week. So if you get home each weekend and head out monday each week then it would be once a week. The thing that concerns me is that if for some reason you started your week earlier one week would that be a problem? You start monday morning a 8:00 AM this week. Now next week you want to start sunday evening at say 9:00 PM. It hasn't been a week since your last reset ended.

I actually do that quite a bit. I aim to hit my first Monday delivery at 7am, so I set my start time based on where I have to deliver to. Whether or not I am bobtail, hooked to an empty or already loaded also figure into things. I may start as early as 10pm on Sunday night or as late as 6:30am on Monday.

From the link in the first post...

Do you understand it the same way that I do?

EDIT: Just read it for the 100th time, and see that I missed the word beginning, so I totally misunderstood it. Makes a lot more sense now, and I see that it would work for taking one every weekend.

I agree with most of what your saying, except its not La hood or the powers that be in Washington pushing this, its the special intrest groups.

lol, I just clued in also. And that sucks. It would work for taking one every weekend if you get home and start that 34 at the same time each week. However, once you get home and start it later one week then the only way to get back to that time would be to start later each week until it worked back around.

Like the rest of Obama's handpicked staff...LaHood is a friggin' clueless moron.....Not one ounce of reality permeates his brain....

Remember....A dead fish rots from the head down....Our government is that "dead fish"....

If you have not heard that the Chicago thug Ray Lahood running the DOT released the new HOS yesterday as we were all leaving for the holidays. You can see them on the FMCSA site. Ray figures that most of us will not know about them by releasing them on Xmas eve, and they will become law before we know about it in 60 days. If we don't stop this guy, our lives as drivers will soon be over. He wants total control of us, and there is some thought that he has an agenda to get the freight on the railroads, and off trucks. The government knows we are powerless without organization, and a leader. We need to put a stop to this. I am ready to shut down but I don't know how many others are for sure. Should we setup a site to get like minded drivers communicating?

    Blame Obama if you want.

This has been in the works for a long time. The special interest groups are more behind it.

Looney LaHood is the pathetic leader of this. When in Illinois, he was not a supporter of the trucking industry except the corporate owners like most politicians.

    No.

He is not even smart enough to write this garbage. The special interest groups paid for his meals and vacations most likely.
