Just a question...how does common sense and abandoning your truck go together? Sure, it makes you feel good to puff out your chest and thumb your nose at the establishment, but then you spend the next couple months or longer looking for a job and wondering why no one will hire you because you puffed out your chest and left their truck somewhere a thousand miles from the customer or the yard. Where's the dignity in that? :biggrin_25512:

Bottom line, it sucks for the driver to be stuck out there. But there are better ways to handling it. You keep your dignity by being the better man than your dispatcher and finding a better job when you're home.

Work is work...ain't a company out there, trucking or non, that is perfect. Some days suck beyond all explanation, no matter who signs your checks. Doesn't make it right...it just is what it is. If you don't like it or if it happens more than you're comfortable with, start looking to make the change. But don't shoot yourself in the head to puff out your chest and 'be a man.' You do that and for the lunch counter story you just 'earned' for standing up to the big bad company, you just might end up flushing 'the last job you'll ever need'....

    ...'or can get'.

What's so funny I am scheduled to work Christmas day and any load I pull will pay me double the usual rate.

There in lies the problem with modern day trucking. To many people out here because they HAVE to be instead of they WANT to be.

Life... is like a box of chocolates - a cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that no one ever asks for, unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So, you're stuck with mostly undefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there's nothing else to eat while you're watching the game. Sure, once is a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee but it's gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you are left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts, which, if you are desperate enough to eat, leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper.

Oh yes fellow drivers....... If CSA 2010 lives up to it's billing then seasoned veterans will be a premium.....and it will be payback time.

I'm not holding my breath on this one .....first it was the CDL, then TWIC.... now 2010 ? Not likely but anything is possible.

NEVER get mad....... ALWAYS get even !:biggrin_2558:

I tend to agree with this...First the CDL, then TSA,, now CVSA...and already the usual bottom feeders are already screaming "Driver Shortage"....Really ? Where? No artificial driver shortage, just a shortage of decent jobs. They are just gearing up to prep the political hacks for more NAFTA drivers to keep that steady stream of cheap labor they survive on. Repeal the Fair Labor and Standards exemption for truck drivers ? Improve working conditions in the industry ? God forbid, no, just keep those warm bodies coming...

I will say one thing about Dahlsten....they got everyone home before Christmas. By today every driver....O/O and company....were home. They bounced me from Dallas yesterday. Four hundred some miles. But we bounce alot of miles sometimes, so that's not a shocker.

For all of the drivers out there who are being forced to be away at Christmas....sorry. Hope you are able to make the best of it.

To those in the service and stationed over seas.....my family and myself appreciate the sacrifices and hope that everyone returns home safe.

    Merry Christmas!
