I was at an accident scene as a rookie firefighter when a tanker truck came through. His rear trailer clipped the corner of the ambulnce. He had no idea he had scraped some paint off that ambulance until the deputy gave him back his pipe cover and pointed out the red paint on his trailer.

It is entirely possible this driver didn't know he was hit, especially if it was a grazing blow.

"The commercial truck and or the trailer may have light damage or paint marks as a result of the collision."

Odds are he/she never knew there was any contact until they stopped and even then they might be pulling a banged and some what beat up trailer and the damage is still not noticed even today. I cant say nor do I know. But I hardly think this would be a case to hang yet another driver before the facts are known.

A buddy of ours had a motorcycle hit the back of his trailer once and didn't know it . . . sitting in a traffic jam because of another accident. Felt a slight bump but that was it. He thought it was a pothole or something in the road. There was a cop right there . . . he told our buddy to just stay in his truck, you don't want to go back there and look.

C&G......the original article says that, but some of us live in AZ and have seen further reports. The law enforcement authorities are now saying there may have NOT been any contact at all.

I just read the article again, and when I posted it it was 5 minutes after it went online and the article said the truck was sought in the hit-and-run and was believed to have severe front end damage. It also said it was a red rust color.

I guess the article was updated to show what really happened on 12/24 at 10:46PM, so seems the earlier comments were based on that information before the update.

Yep, it was a completely different story when I read it the first time.

Yep.....Lets hang'em, give'em 30 days in the electric chair at low voltage and then find at the facts of the story.

Well, authorities did say that. If they change the story afterwards is not normal. I guess all articles we read we better wait a couple days to see if the cops change their story. What were we thinking?

For anyone who thinks some of the comments were harsh or premature here is the original, premature story.
