Is it GOAL or should it be called GOALS? Get Out And Look STUPID!

Yes I am a newbe, but even with a little time with with CDL A it doesnt matter. I have in twenty plus years of driving and keeping my eyes open. Knowing what is going on around is a major factor.

I guess sometimes you just need to raise a little hell at grocery warehouses. I went to check on my paperwork the guy at the desk said that the receiver is still breaking down my load. Out of frustration, I said, " That's funny, because my receiver is standing 2 ft from you!" He then said, "Oh, he went to lunch." I reply, "I am already here for 4 1/2 hrs so far, So how much longer do I need to wait? 1 hr, 2 hrs?" He didn't answer so I went back to the truck. The minute I got back to the truck, they call Nero get my bills. Obviously they were done before I even went in to check and were just messing around in the office until I caught them!

It should be GOALS. But not every trucking company things that way. We have it posted on every trailer so its hard to forget. Even when I know I have 10ft to go I get out and look just to make sure. I don't care if I take longer than the other drivers are wanting to wait. If they are stubborn and stay in their trucks and don't offer to help they can wait. I have only had one place I had to have help getting into and 2 guys helped me. Now if I know Im really having a hard time and no one offers to help Ill get on the radio and ask. I have no qualms about asking. Id rather do it right and safe then hit something.

Well today had been a trip. I delivered at 10am this morning and it was taking so long for them to unload me my 14 was going to run out before I could even get part way to KS for a pickup. That sucked lost a 1500 m load to FL now I have a 860m load from the same place in KS to WI. Fooie Oh well such is life. I'm still learning and will have many more like this I'm sure.
