Has anyone seen any data on big truck crashes after the 105 kph speed limit was put in place?

Sure seem to hear about lots of crashes still. I have been in and see all kinds of "turtle races", drives the four wheelers crazy.

Put a call into the OTA for David Bradley. I am positive he can fill your head with BS statistics regarding the positive effects of this draconian regulation.

I'm sure they can make the data look how they want it to look.

Seems to me it has only created more congestion and four wheelers taking bigger chances. Not safer from what I have seen....

David Bradley might as well be the head of the anti-trucking alliance....the only reason he was backing the 105 km/h nonsense is, that big companies like Challanger were giving him (OTA) "sponsorship" money....if he wasnt singing their tune, they would quietly withdraw their "donations"

He is an equivalent to a corrupt polititian, who pretends to speak on behalf of those who actually work for a living...

The 102 km/h rule was never about safety, but rather about the big companies trying to "level the playing field" to prevent the smaller guys from delivering the freight on time, thus have the edge over the big guys, whom have chosen to govern their trucks at 102 km/h in order to get better deal from the insurance companies....
Now all that was left for them to do (the big companies) was to figure out how to eliminate those, who provide faster service (small operations and owner ops), which is exactly what they did with the help of OTA and David Bradley by playing the "safety fiddle"....

Make no mistake........The OTA is a lobby group for trucking companies, they don't care about drivers, never have and never will. They represent trucking companies.

Only the company trucks running local seem to be governed. Highway units generally aren't governed. Companies know that if company "B" isn't governing their trucks and running west that you had better follow suit or you will be losing your drivers to that company. Companies will give the driver the choice of running a non governed unit and let them pay the fine. Companies like the idea in principal but stab eachother pretty quickly when it comes to actually applying the law to their trucks and retaining drivers.

They are all in "bed" together. The carriers proposed it and Bradley sold it. It has been extremely beneficial to the big fleets. It has severely limited driver competition as with castrated trucks there isn't near the oppourtunity to move from employer A to employer B for faster trucks. Yeas, a few are doing it but they are the minority.

The other thing coming out of this is the way it had kept the OTA's membership's competition at bay. Countless out of province fleets and O/O's have refused to go to Ontario thus increasing the market place for the Ontario based fleets.

Ontario fleets have lowered their fuel costs to virtually the lowest cost of anyine because of this legislation. When you can control your largest cost by Government legislation you're not even the bad guy to your employees any more.

Pretty smart when you look at it.

Very nicely put...they are nothing but a mouth piece for the big companies, while pretending to be there for truckers and David Bradley is their puppet....

Wouldn't it be cool, if someone had actually started a real trucking alliance....you know an organization that actually looks out for the truckers best interest....theres an idea!

The Canadian Trucking Alliance and the Ontario Trucking Association and all other provincial associations are the same as UNIONS. To Associate, Unionize, Organize etc., it's all the same.

The are UNITED together to lobby governments for they want and they do a very good job of it. They get what they want.

They want to reduce the speed limit, it happens, they want to pull LCV's, they pull'em.

Until drivers get organized and united with a strong voice, they will never get what they want.

Stop and think about it, when you pull LCV's you get rid of a truck and a driver. Over the years Canada has allowed B Trains Super "B". Omtario has always allowed a million axles that carry a lot of weight.

Don't worry however, the USA will follow suit with more wheels and multiple trailers.

Ontario's B Train/Super B Train configurations are no different than anywhere else in Canada.

Sure they use 6 axle straight trailers to run Michigan but with SPIF requirements they are infra=structure friendly.
