RFX Cobra will do 130 watts "stand alone"or will run a straight 4-6 pill to the hilt
All in one simple package that is fleet truck friendly.
The "REASON" you see the "VERY EXCLUSIVE" negative feedback on the RFX mod is due to piss poor installs and people shooting their face off about something they have no working knowledge of.
I have many thousands of dollars worth of top notch radio equipment and have
over the years wandered off to the "New Trendy",some experiences were good others were wasted coin.
RFX's Cobra's are "ROCKIN REDNECK Radios" when set up by Sparkys or CustomCb
Cant speak for other shops I have no experience with,$200 tax write offs ain't a bad thing.
Who gives a flying flip what a Competition radio looks like on a scope?
The RFX mod is wicked loud and crystal clear with a realistic range to support its asking price. That of which easily kicks many of the pound puppy 10 meters to the porch
for well under $150 on the cheap side.
Bottom line:
Its a BIG BALLS RADIO on a budget -
Ok Urban Cowboy, I apologize this train derailed a long time ago.
My question to you....how far are you trying to get out now with your radio and 102 whip?
My next question...how far can you get out now with your radio and 102 whip right now?
Please answer those two questions so that we may help you better.
Now as for your question on running an amp....In order to run a linear, you need to have the dead key lowered, if that's what you meant by "dulling the crap out of it".
I couldn't tell you up front how to lower your dead key but a CB shop could do it. All you need it lowered to is 2 watts to run pretty much any amp. -
I run a RM Italy 203p mounted in top of a galixy 949 in my work truck. it's small and makes about 75 wats. they can be found for about 75 bucks with shiping

I know I'm pokin in but am also trying to get out further, mine is a old cobra 25 ltd classic that already has the board switched out and when it was in my old truck 2009 international pro star I just had a antenna matched to the truck and was happy. Now 2011 587 pete I can't get out very far, open to suggestions.

Have you checked the SWR to ensure it's below 2.1:1? (preferably 1.5:1)
