Well said. The folks who think the Gov. is taking their "freedom" away are the ones who still believe 4500 miles per week is how you make a living. Untill they realize their being taken for a ride, they will never get it.

Sounds like you want to blame your friends poor judgement on the false logs. False logs never killed anyone but poor decisions sure have. Falsifying logs -is- a victimless crime; crashing through a construction zone is not.

The number one reason I falsify logs is because I take naps that don't work well with the 14 hour rule. Does that make me unsafe? I don't sleep 8 hors at a time so the hos can be a real b sometimes, and I'm not going to let government play daddy and tell me when bedtime is just so I can be legal and miserable.

I drive about 2500 a week, get home weekends, paid percentage, and usually have appointments. No point in trying to overdo it. I own my truck, so it only rolls when I say so. Not being taken for a ride. Yet, I still advocate false logs, or at least doing away with hos rules.

I guess being told when to work and when to sleep is acceptable to you. Is that not a loss of freedom?

About the same loss of freedom as being told when to stop and when to go. (traffic signals).

I didn't realize your sleep patterns and paychecks were affected by traffic signals.

where i work, all of the linehaul drivers end up over on their 14 about once a week. which also happens to be legal. once a week you are allowed up to 16 hours on duty, as long as you do not violate your 11 hours of driving rule.

just log it like it happens, and if you are questioned, you are not falsifying your logs. it might look bad if you are on your 15th hour on duty and still on the road. but you are logging it as it happens, and if your company is like mine, that is just the way it goes once in a while because of weather, or other delays.

I guess I'm not conforming to every whim of the government and special interest groups.

Tell me, what good were the HOS rules and logbook regulations for the 11 people run over by blacks friend? hos/logbooks don't save anybody. good judgement and common sense do.
