Hello, I just graduated with a Class A CDL. Now I don't know what to do. What kind of job to apply for, where to look, etc. I was googling for truck driver jobs and stumbled upon this site. I also don't know if I should trust websites that ask for my information to apply.
I am completely new to this. I was a construction worker for 18 years and was let go over the summer, so I decided to become a trucker for the first time. I live in South Gate, CA if that helps at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.
Just Graduated. Now what?

you should have started looking befor you went to school. the reason is that if you wait to long you will not be able to get a job. most of the companies want you right out of school. i got out of school on a friday and started the next monday
for now go to the TA truck stop I-10 exit 57 right befor the I-15 split, by the back door going out the the fuel islands you will find some smaill trucking mag's. grab all of them then start looking, check out the web sites and start calling the ones you like. ask every thing you can think of, you should have a pre-hire by friday. -
Be very careful about signing on with one of those companies..Most likely you will find them on the Bad Companies section of this forum...If something sounds to good to be true...In Trucking, you can bet it will be a rotten deal,-for you..Dont hit the panic button, you DO have some time,do research on your own and this forum, ask questions..,there are many senior drivers here that will help you...

Major Companies did not come to your school trying to recruit?!
-
Fresh outta school your options are limited. Generally speaking you just have to suck it up for a year or so until you get enough experience under your belt to move to something better than one of the big ones.

What to do next........................
Most graduates sign on with a big crummy outfit, drive for 3-9 months,
then quit or get fired.
Then they go out and find a real job -- in another line of work !!!
I hope you manage to be in the minority, and find a good company to work for !!! -
Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I should've done some research earlier. I'll be using this forum as help when I look at a particular company. I'll first start out with construction and move on from there.
Again, thanks for the help. -
I know some people here do not like the mega companies but if you are interested in OTR you have to start at the bottom and work your way up.
I use to drive OTR back in the 90's and now I have to start all over again. Look into
Swift
W&S
JBHunt
and plenty of others that may give you a chance. -
####,There you are...
I've been looking for you.!!!.
