What has happened here? I have always assumed that the giving of bear reports IS a part of the job description of truck drivers.
I have gone for as long as several hours giving but never receiving one in return/acknowledgment of my bear report.
Is this the new breed? Is this the same mentality that flashes their bright lights at you while getting around them? Really. What gives here?
Is it the satellite radio syndrome? Is it the driver of a slow truck syndrome? Truck school graduate syndrome? LAZY driver syndrome?
Just asking as I have become more cognizant of this "fad" as of late.
What happened to the bear report? Has it gone to the wayside not unlike the stopping to assist a broken down driver on the side of the road? Too many qualcoms out there now and dispatches that do the driving for the drivers in trucks equipped w/as much?
It is indeed a perplexing thought/question for me.

All the trucks are cut back to 62 mph. You couldn't speed if you wanted to.

The bears are always moving. You can hear "bear at the 121 westbound", and it might be 30 minutes after the guy saw him. Think the bear is still there? Or a guy says "I got on at the 43, clear to there", when a tropper got on a minute after he did. Just too unpredictable.

Thanks to electronic monitoring the bear report isn't needed by most...just that simple!

Too many idiots these days only turn the radio on when the traffic is stopped and they can be easily identified by the questions that they all ask...
"Why are we stopped?"
"What's happening up there?"
Or my personal favorite...."Can someone tell me how to get around this backup?"
This question always get asked when the guy is already in the backup and can't get off the highway anyway and is usually heard by me from the side road that I got on ten miles back when I heard on the radio that there was a backup ahead.
Too many morons in the truckin' business these days!cobratori, Motownfire, SGTSmokdU and 9 others Thank this. -
i think there is too many morons in general lol

Too many morons on the radio anymore.

Who cares about the bears.heyns57, bentstrider83, Tazz and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah, sometimes a driver within your radio range going the same direction will give out bear reports every 3 minutes, talking about bears from 2 hours ago. Talk about overkill........
TruckMafk Thanks this.
