"some of this BS is to good to be true"
notice how so many FIRST TIME posters head right to this thread , post all the + stuff then never or hardly ever post again
AfterShock, Big Don and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
I hauled fruit for Tropicana, when they had a transportation dept., and when we were busy, could run around 600 miles a day, sometimes never getting on the "big road", and we were allowed to be on the clock for only 15 hours. I would earn #### close to a $1K a week, and this was in '91. To go through all of the agravation of o.t.r. life and leasing, and run 7K miles for $1500 for 2 people, doesn't make much cents. I love trucks and understand the "truck disease", but you need to think things out.
AfterShock Thanks this. -
We did happen to notice that this IS your first post! Those of us who lurk in here have noticed one thing. First time posters to a thread in the BAD COMPANY thread with no trucking experience seem to always blow a horn for the company that just sounds flat!
$750 for 3500 miles? ROFLMFAO! insulting as hello!
lets see 3500 x $31= $1,089 sad
3500x $.35=$1,225 better
3500x $.40=$1,400 way better and yes that number is still out there but you have to work for it before they fire you to hire the next newbie at less than $.30 a mile!
Now for those of you who don't know how to post that statement you want to show us just follow these simple steps.
*First copy the statement.
*Then with a black marker mark over any information like name, addy, SSI number, license number, phone, and your company employee number and truck number. The reason to do it this way is some hackers know how to uncover anything done with Paint or any other Art program thus stealing your identity. But please leave the company name for us to laugh at!
*Scan the copy to your computer and put it in a file with a name easy to remember like "scan for TTR" in Your Documents or on your desktop.
*Come back to TTR.com and the thread you want to post in and open a quick reply or post reply window
*then click the "go advanced" button.
*Go ahead and type what you want in the body then scroll down and you'll see in the Additional Options window
*and a "Manage Attachments" button.
*Click it and another window will open
*Click the first "Browse" button and a "file upload" window will open.
*On the left you'll see Desktop then My Computer then other things like My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures, and on.(Depends on which version of windows you use)
*Open wherever it was you put that file and then click on the file name and then the file its self and open and then upload and you're done.
Your attachment will be at the bottom of the page as
-your proof that you:
*make jack crap and are showing how you're getting bent
*make jack crap and are showing us you're proud of it Like rebel0807
*are warning us that this BFI really does steal out of your pocket -
A "prescribed" controlled substance still shows positive.
Police Officer: "Your actions have killed 9 children on that School bus".
Lormahoykyd2007: "But...but, officer I have a prescription". -
Does CRE have any company trucks anymore? I never see the red Freightliners anymore. Company trucks were in the 55XXX series, I believe.
-
Yes, CRE still has company trucks. The vast majority of them are used in dedicated, regional and/or local positions. There are still a few in the national fleets but not many. This is due to CRE mandating that all national trucks be operated by teams.
CRE company trucks are numbered in the 5xxxx series as a general rule, although their are a few exceptions where the number series is 9xxxx. In those cases, the trucks were used as leaser trucks and were later converted to company. Also, some leaser trucks r numbered in the 5xxxx series. These began as company trucks and were later converted to leaser.
Company trucks are now available in a variety of colors, especially for senior drivers with 5 years with CRE or more. However, the majority of company trucks are still Red freightliners.
Trucks driven by leasers will have "Leased by CR England" on the side. Trucks driven and/or managed by owner/operators will have "Operated by CR England" on the side.skullitor Thanks this. -
This was a good post but additional information needed by drivers...
C.R. England is where I started. I had been with them for two years. The staff of England have been good to me. I had worked well with England as a trainer and solo driver but there are many things new drivers need to know about being a lease contractor.
First, optimum peak performance of the 2010 Freightliner Cascadia according to Freightliner and Detroit Diesel is 65mph, not 62mph. This lower truck speed limits rpm torque range not developing hp for mountains or hills at average weight load exceeding 35,000lbs. The reason for this lower governed speed is in part misconception about driving safety. We impeed traffic in most states with speed limits 70, 75 and even 80mph. We are governed as much as 18mph below state limits forcing other drivers to merge traffic. Our accidents have doubled from previous years, not improved. Our DOT rating for safety has dropped causing increased vehicle inspaections with substandard trailers and equipment. This is evidenced by difficulties with road service to get necessary repairs for trailers to comply with DOT regulations, ie tires, worn brake pads or out of adjustment, nonfunctional tandem release and damaged landing gear release.
The federal government subsidizes England with lower taxes for reducing truck speed. This is a result of states federal lawsuit upheld in Supreme Court, "Federal government does not have jurisdiction over inter state commerce." The end result of these statements are the average driver pays higher fuel prices by reducing mpg, running fewer miles per week on electronic logs, governed speed and affecting our safety rating by actually increasing total number of accidents per year... Not all relating to speed but impact is felt by drivers making less money while increasing costs through variable mileage... Fuel costs.
Additional note to these statements are the 2010 Cascadia has a design flaw in the governor which allowed me to operate at 67mph without tampering with company property. This increase speed allowed my tractor to perform within designed specifications for the tractor and actually increase my overall mpg. England claims this statement is false but my on board computer and total fuel costs has proven C.R. england to be flat out liars. We are not subsidized by this tax break given to all major companies for lowering truck speed.
This is also in evidence by Englands refusal to allow independent contractors to run with 13 speed splitter. The splitter was removed by england after tractor leased from Freightliner, in some cases voided vehicle waranty. 13 speed allows drivers to split gears on climbs actually reducing fuel consumption.
Another topic is any new driver is locked at 14 cent variable mileage. This means any new driver will not receive a pay increase of any kind while working for C.R. England. Lease Reserve takes away 7cpm. This reserve only pays 1cpm to your maintanance account. This means 6 cents per mile is held by England paying depreciation of your truck you have leased to own.
I had paid 508 dollars per week for lease. With lease reserve, that brings cost of my lease to average $720.00 per week for 3yrs and still leaving me a balance of $43,000 to pay at end of 3yr lease. By returning this truck, any new driver is taking over my lease by Horizon to Freightliner yet cost will rise to $650 on lease and with Lease reserve, 850- $900 per week. That is additional proffit at drivers expense to C.R. England.
England does state any driver will have to drive 2000 miles per week to break even after costs. WAIT!!! That means to not be at a loss or just to break even... zero paycheck, we have to drive 2000 miles per week or work 33.3hrs per week for free. With on duty time for fuel cost, pre and post trip, shippers and receivers, we are lucky to get 3000m per week. That is why many of our solo drivers are living on $100 a week sallary advance towards next weeks paycheck. Get the point?
The only way to make money is by training. We have cut training to as little as 10 days with no prior experience putting unsafe drivers on the road. Many students I had on board, I had warned England they needed more time before they would be ready to be an I.C. The training dept over looked my warnings, eager to lease. Each Training coordinator receives a bonus based on number of upgrades completed. CSA now holds trainers responsible for their students following 6 months upon the completion of training. The CSA score of any trainer is affected for any score of any student for 6 months after leaving your truck regardless of whether you felt they were ready and England does not guarantee the student will receive the training or experience they may need... It's not just driving. How about trip planning? Drivers pay late charges, not england. How about logging? Customer relations? These are details that affect our over the road performance.
We also know that the student pays for their schooling. Students pay as much as $3100. The Fed reimburses England $3100 for schooling. Obama stimulus also gives up to $3000 for every person hired that was previously unemployed. The schooling is also a tax write off for England. This means England makes as much as $12,000 per student. We have 4,700 trucks. We have 5 schools that start an average of 550 students per week. Many drop out the first day. About 100 to 150 students graduate and complete training per week but we still have 4,700 trucks. England has the highest turn over rate of any trucking company. If drivers were happy at England, they would stay.
England doesn't want drivers to stay. 10 days training then the student takes a 3hr class where they give you the questions and answers, then the student is a trainer. The blind leading the blind. It's not that all of us are stupid. Many even have prior experience but what about those that don't? As a trainer, I have to be up much of the time to make sure the student is doing ok and I still have to drive my 11hr drive shift. Realistaclly, we are forced to drive fatigued causing accidents to make some proffit. Many students make more than the trainers. Because the trainer pays the student without compensation, we now have to drive 3900 miles per week to break even.
We are underpaid by as much as 500 miles per week. Paid routing miles vs actual drive miles following routing instructions. Look at your GPS or Rand Mcnally. It gives you the information. This is at your cost and time also affecting trip planning. Routing miles never meet planning miles. It is often the planning miles paid to England by the customer. Routing miles are shortest distance often on U.S. highway... stop and go with towns, stop lights and stop signs, lower speed limits... Fewr miles per week.
I had a load from Ogden Ut to Dallas Tx. Paid miles were about 1400. Rand Mcnally and GPS verified it was 1620 miles. Trip planning verified my routing was the exact same as England routing and paid miles. That means England shorted me 220 miles at my expense for time and fuel. That is an example but it happened every trip I was given. Sometimes they shorted me by a few miles, but I was shorted by as much as 462 miles for a single trip.
England does not meet Federal average for fuel rebate. As cost of fuel rises, England charges the customer the fuel sur charge and reimburses the driver yet Englad makes an average of 4cpm for every gallon of fuel purchased by the driver. I pay for the fuel yet England makes money. That's my money, my cost.
I am within the top 90 percent of income for solo drivers yet I have found it impossible to survive out here any longer. My purpose is not the normal complaints about England. I wish to inform the driver about what is really going on. You decide for yourself if this is right for you but know the truth. Look at the number of lawsuits lost by England. Look at how accidents have doubled. Look at the turn over rate. It's not that drivers are idiots. Many of us serve in the military have college degrees or good prior work experience.
I am grateful to England for giving me a chance and for the experience I gained. I have not left on bad terms. They were good to me but these are facts. Learn the truth. What I have learned out here has helped me realize England makes their money off the drivers and are not fair to us. Please take your time and don't make the wrong decision for you.
Why do you think they push the lease? If you lease you get to upgrade at ten days. If you go company, you have to stay in training the full two months. They are punishing you. The trainer and training coordinator get a bonus if you lease. Other companies like U.S. express, Crete an J.B. hunt want you to go company after you train so you have the time to make the right decision. England doesn't care about you. This is how they make their money. No home time, no bennefits, low pay, high costs... Every New Guy Lasts Average Ninety Days. ENGLAND.Son of a Trucker, skullitor, AfterShock and 2 others Thank this.
