My mentor has a brand new International, which he hates except for the pulling power of the new engine over his last Volvo.
With the gears he says... It's new, and they are still straight. They'll round out.
How hard is manual shift?

Sounds like you aren't gauging the RPMs right or aren't double clutching properly.Last edited: Jan 1, 2011

Quit double clutching and learn to float

The problem is that he is "double clutching"! Learn to correctly drive the transmission without using the clutch and you'll never grind a gear again.
Unfortunately...These days it seems that you hear more idiots that don't know the difference between "bang shifting" and 'floating" and don't really seem to care one way or the other because..."It's not mine!"Ranger_309 and FriedTater Thank this. -
Lupe, if you go to K-mart, they have a red truck just outside there doors, you just have to put a quarter in it, jump up, and you can practice all day.walstib Thanks this.

Check your patience level also, seems to me when I felt pressured, whether self-imposed or not, I ground the gears more often...I've recently been floating up and down and find it, for one, a much smoother, and quieter, ride...
