I generally try to stay out of dead end arguments like this - it was a decent discussion and much can be learned from the experienced hands that have posted in the thread but I suppose I feel the need to drop down a level or two since hypocrisy also drives me up the wall.. Especially in the form of religion after my years in Catholic schools and my experience watching Southern people get swindled by Baptist "ministers"..
This is an informative thread but I have to do it... Why would someone with a religious screen name and Jesus in the signature tell another person to "go back to sucking your momma's ***"? (which should be mammas not mamma's) Also seems odd that you would call him out for grammar yet be incorrect, and even worse, inconsistent with capitalization. It's fine if you never capitalize on a message board but sometimes you do and sometimes you don't in the same post.. I normally double punctuate to end a sentence but I'm pretty consistent unless I feel proper writing is a must - just my writing style right..
As far as driving goes, with only 0-1 year I'm not sure your really qualified to tell another driver what needs to be done behind the wheel - the 25 year veterans that posted on this thread sure are but their excellent posts have gone by the wayside in favor of a pissing contest.. I'm also all for someone that was born in 86 driving and expressing his opinions about it.. He's most likely 24 and I was already three years in by that point while working for the company that is my current employer and will be for a long time. Although I'm not sure where he got his numbers as I already stated in an earlier post on this thread, I like the fact that a younger guy is not gonna "suck it up" or "grow a sack" so he can live a life as a driver getting pimped by a company.. I'm not a huge fan of the attitude, and I'm really not of yours since you choose to pose as religious while slandering others, but perhaps he can learn a thing or two from the educated experienced drivers that added their thoughts here..
Just something to think about man..

Yeah. Sometimes I can come across as crass. But it drives me up the wall when I hear someone complain and try to bash something they obviously know nothing about. (though technically, it IS momma's)
the ' shows possession.
You are right of course, about my.... use of direct confrontation. I do not claim to be perfect, but am not above saying I am wrong at times. It took tough love to break me out of my immaturity and lazy ways, and sometimes this is the way I naturally try to help others. I am not slandering him though... I do not see where I did this. -
love how I said the same basic thing... yet I got blitzed...lol. (love ya jakebrake!)

The sad thing about pissing contests is that great posts from experienced hands like this get lost.. I had to say my piece but posts like this should be getting the attention..

Thanks for the kind words, jakebrake12. Pity the picture doesn't show. It's also in my Trucking Pictures album if anyone to take a look at it. It's nothing special to look at, but it keeps my family eating.
jakebrake12 Thanks this. -
Nice pictures man.. Appreciate your insight also.. One of these days I need to organize all my pictures and post them..
Thanks again man.. -
I don't know about general pay where all of you live, but I live in the middle-of-nowhere KS and a good paying job around here for a local hourly pay is $10 and above to start. This is the reason I have looked at going back out OTR. I did it for 6 months about 5 years ago, but some family medical problems forced me to quit and take a local job. I stayed at that job for the last 4 1/2 years and it did require a CDL w/ Hazmat. I drove mostly straight trucks on a daily basis, but we did have Semi w/ hoppers as well.
I now have recovered from an injury and am of course behind on bills and have several medical bills to pay......not to mention we have 4 children, ages 11 and under. They of course don't want Dad to go back out, but when you look at the jobs here, where you can bring home about 1600-1800 monthly BEFORE taxes, versus a possible job offer I have for pulling a tanker for a VERY reputable company, that would pay at least 2-3 times that amount(they talking average pay is around 1000 per week, drivers I know there, not just the employer).......hard to decide. Also, there are not a whole lot of jobs to be had around here to begin with.
I do love my family and kids so home time is important to me. I would not even consider this for less than 2 times the money that I can make here or if I would not be able to come home pretty regularly.
Just been tormenting myself for about a month over this decision. Starting to make me a little crazy.......
