i have 20 years in nutrition asa well as cretified ace and several others,i have had three clients(1 trucker) that has lost over 100 pounds.
The trucker was my biggest loser he weighed 514 lbs and 1 year later weighs 354lbs .
His goal is to weigh 250 lbs @6ft 5in tall.

If any on here need any help i start all the simple approach, diet is divided into 6 small meals a day and walking.
,Makeing small difference's is the key ,most try to workout 7 days a week and only eat 1-2 meals a day.
The key is to make your metabolism burn, any of my clients could eat 6 snickers bars a day for 3 days and they wouldn't gain a pound.

Last year i was 240 pounds @5ft 8in tall 12-13% bodyfat and 16 weeks later i weighed 190lbs and was 3.4% bodyfat(very unhealthy) but that was for just one show.
You won't have to go through that punishment(lol)

Pm me anytime i know little changes (wrote down ) and used will make a big diffrence, when that stops we add some other things and one is walking.

These diets are one thing diets cause after 6 months you go back to square 1 and more than likely a few pounds more.

The cost of my services for the TIME BEING FREE (lol)
I will tell you what supplements to use what grocerys and what fast foods that serve lower fat food in case you can't cook.

I also like isometrics for weighted exercise as well as no weights for the abs, obliques etc.
One thing i never could understand is situps, one working out adds muscle tissue to the abs .
So you add 2 pounds of muscle to your stomach region so a 40 in waist is now a 44 (LOL)

It the small things in live that add (or in this case take away) the most.

I have had 2 pms within 5 minutes of writeing the above post.
To make things faster for the both of us do this.
Go buy a small calorie counter, write down all the meals, snacks etc for 1 week.
This will save me by not haveing to count your calories.
Then we can go from there:biggrin_255:

TREE, if you used weights on your ab exercises, you would notice very little size gain, however, you would notice a great benefit in overall core strength, which is better for everything that you do. If you look at powerlifters and strongman competitors who are in the lighter weight categories, you don't see massive stomachs of muscle. Hell, even the heavier categories don't have massive stomachs of muscle. Many just have lots of fat over their stomachs. The ab muscles aren't predisposed for large gains, like the back, or legs are. Also, good luck in ever adding 2lbs of muscle to your abs. It just isn't going to happen.

However, that being said, I hope some people take you up on your offer. It's a good thing that you're doing.

Hence why we have an epidemic- too many people holding out for the easy route. If it actually involves a little effort they don't want to even consider it. They'll complain about being fat and blame it on trucking, but if you try to show them how to be a healthy trucker, they won't listen and will just keep making excuses. You can't help someone who isn't willing to help themselves.

Losing weight requires effort. Being healthy requires effort. It is a conscious choice that must be made over and over again. Changing the body starts with changing the mind.

And before anyone bites my head off, let me say I am not perfect. I too gained a little weight when I started trucking, and I have not lost all of it yet. But I'm not going to make excuses and blame it on the truckstops or my company or my career choice. I gained weight because of the food I chose to put into my body.

I never said you do sit ups, however, might I suggest something other than crunches. Crunches are old school, and contribute to tight hip flexors. Those tight hip flexors are what help to stick out a person's butt and belly. Instead, do things like planks, or mountain climbers, or anything that makes you use your trunk/core. Way better on the core, and won't tighten up an already problem area on most drivers, the hip flexors.

    Well,I agree with Injun.

I'm fat as a cow and I hope to get Tree's help. I suppose I could use all types of excuses from my hypothyroidism, to depression to food addictions but the truth of the matter is: I'm fat, I don't wish to be anymore and I need help. *nods*

If people wish to browbeat me over why I'm fat.....that'll be okay. whatever. If people wish to try and tell Tree he's wrong.....that'll be okay too. whatever. Tree's made an offer to help and I'm taking it.

If it's alright I'd like to take you up on your offer to help lose weight. I'll keep a journal of my eating and then send it to you.

Thank you for your willingness to help those of us who find it all confusing. And for the offer to help that is encouragement.

    Merry Christmas Tree.

Nana is right. Anyone with hypothyroidism has a much lower metabolism rate plus the motivation factor is taken away from you. It's not always laziness. There are thousands and thousands of people undiagnosed. I maintained a healthy body most of my trucking career until I got hypothyroidism. I gained 70 lbs in the matter of 6 months. It wasn't like I went on a 6 month eating binge. It took me two years to balance out on the high dosage of meds to get rid of only some of the many symptoms. Many patients take 10-50mcg of Levothyroxin. I take 175mcg. I still have some symptoms and will always have them as my thyroid is completely dead.
Since I been home, I been eating healthier, but physical activity is limited because of a back injury now. I get an epidural Thursday and hopefully that part will be fixed.
I bet half the overweight truckers have hypothyroidism. They need treatment along with a planned excercise/diet program. Every overweight person should have a blood test and their TSH levels checked by their doctor.
