Welding it would be fine for the short term. But doing that, it burns the lining on the inside of tank and eventually when condensation get;s in there, it will start to rust and you don't want that crap getting the air valves and regulators.rocknroll nik Thanks this.
-
unfortunatly not all the drivers are skilled enought to manage the critical situation, like loosing all air, flat/blown steer tire, brocken leafsprings, tie rods.... we have more trucks then good drivers.
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Hey the way I look at it I was lucky......it isn't always skill that saves your butt out there....not panicking and doing what I knew was right got me thru it end of story............But you are right there are more trucks than GOOD drivers
-
i brazed one years ago--just for a quick fix---i cant remember but they probabely left that quick fix there for as long as they could
i dont think i would want to do that now with abs,i imagine that lining could mess up some valves
and i did try the elect. tape on trailer lines just to get off of the off ramp and into a t/s--not a real great fix -
How low are these companies stooping? It's a wonder something so stupid as CSA2010 is implemented?
It's a air tank, a company can acquire one with a rather large discount, probably $30?
Sickening. -
really it is a common problem of company trucks. Owner-drivers do not these mistakes. They are usually more responsible.
-
actually, they ordered a new tank yesterday, $140, it's polished alum., like the old one. This one has three fittings on it plus two drains. Inlet and outlet on rear, outlet on front (where the airline for air assist for clutch goes), plus drain on front and rear. Mack is going to warranty the old tank, as it's only two years old.
this wasn't really a mistake. found out today that it blew not where they fixed it, but in a different spot. It was leaking where the bung for the airline was brazed to it, they tried the JB Weld on that spot, it ruptured 2" lower on the tank, but is looked like it ruptured at the repair point. -
I love this... J.B. an air tank? Lets get some playdough for the tires k?
