    TND 700 has:
    - Bigger screen
    - louder speaker (but the 500 has a fairly loud one already)
    - a "Notepad" screen (jot down reminders or personal notes in that screen)
    - a calendar
    - bigger address book.
    - an external receiver antenna connection (on most models / depends on the serial number) same on the 500's: depends on the serial number.

    Those are the differences.

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Going from White Marsh, Md to Jessup, Md. I have the "No Tolls" box checked off. The TND 500 keeps trying to get me turned around to go straight through I-95 (toll road) and through Fort McHenry Tunnel (toll). It did this to me coming up as well.
It is fifteen to eighteen miles to go around it, but I save at least fifteen dollars last time I checked years ago. I don't really know how much money it cost anymore as I am allergic to tolls! :biggrin_25525:
I just updated it this weekend as well.

    What's going on with it?

This is not the only time it has did this to me.

Years ago they did construction on some of these ramps around Baltimore that are right not left, left not right. But it seems TND 500 isn't caught up on that either. It actually made me miss my turns because it had me staying in the wrong lanes.

Sharp curves are not in the Mapping database on your TND yet. This is a two stage process. The code was written and the 2nd part will be the map update.

If it routes you out of your way, then let me know the area or more details. Truck attributes are not perfect on every road or ramp yet.

truck washes are coming in the POI's. Yes we know refers need to be washed out.

Updating every other day is not needed. Once a week or every two weeks is fine. Currently you are only updating POI's, Global POI's and construction data, but these are only updated every couple of weeks. New versions are pushed out via an update, but a new version is not ready to be released yet.

You should be on version 10.9.1808.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Street numbers will almost never match on any GPS. What the GPS does is know the street high number and the low number and pretty much pro-rate the numbers inbetween. My house is off by a house and a half.

    Thanks,
    Mark

If when mapping data was first started to be compiled into databases and if it was actually verified and checked on a regular basis then maybe the mapping database would be more correct.

If your car GPS is off, no one complains, thus nothing gets fixed. Truck GPS did not hit the scene till a few years ago. How much verification do you feel was actually done?

Rand is taking your input and doing something about it. Corrections are being made. Databases are being updated.

You cannot expect 100% perfection of any electronic device. MicroSoft has been around for plenty of years, yet we see updates all the time. How many laptops have you returned because they failed to be 100%?

Google Maps does not take into account truck restrictions.

    Thanks,
    mark

Take a pair of pliers and gently squeeze it to form a little tighter connection on the USB side of the DC cable and see how it does.

    Thanks,
