What constitutes failing a truck driving test?

Running a red light.
Rolling over a curb.
Speeding.
Speeding through a school zone.
Getting into any kind of accident.
Getting pulled over by the Police for being at fault for something.
Driving too fast for conditions.
Hitting a pedestrian.
Disobeying the road test instructor.
Failure to use turn signals.

and rear-ending a school bus full of nuns.

 

Hitting something. Seriously. Other than that, it really depends on your tester, and your state. Different states have different requirements. Here in PA, you can fail without even starting the truck. We have an extraordinarily indepth Pre-Trip Inspection you have to do before your road test. Don't remember the fail point for that anymore, since it's been awhile since I've had to test, but it was pretty tough. Beyond that, it depends on how hard azzed your tester is. Mine was a PA State Trooper who understood I was still in training, and gave me some good pointers (guy used to drive before he joined the "dark side"). I've "heard", and by heard I mean happened to a friend of a guy, of students failing for sparking gears, but I wouldn't believe it.

Keep off the curbs, watch your following and stopping distances, keep your eyes constantly moving (mirror, road, mirror,road, mirror), do your best with your shifting, and pay attention to what your tester says. Try to relax a bit, and you'll be fine. Nobody expects you to be perfect. If you were, you wouldn't have to go through company-paid training after school....

In that case, you'd be given a good citizenship medal, but only if you pushed that busload of lawyers or politicians off the nearest cliff...

What do I get if I keep driving back and forth over their mangled bodies? Other than that warm, fuzzy feeling of doing a good deed, that is...

I'm only asking in case there isn't a cliff real handy to my current position....
