Looking to make a move to a better company as I'm completing my 1st year of driving. I have a CLEAN record all around and both dry and reefer experience. I am interested in both of these companies after talking to their recruiters. I'm looking for a company around Atlanta, GA that allows weekend home time, good pay, and clean trucks. These are two that I see on the road often and like what I see in their dedicated route packages. Any other suggestions welcomed.
Can "only" those who currently work for or recently left on good terms these companies give me solid feedback so that I can make a firm decision. AKA: Not those who were fired or left because the company hurt their feelings in some way. I need true feedback as I like to do research before jumping. I've been with Swift and need better miles, money, and trucks.
Thanks ahead of time!!!!
Averitt or Heartland Express

Try SEFL.........if you want both hometime and money.......
-
Go with Averitt.
-
SEFL offers flatbed, reefer, and dry,
and don' t have a terrible turnover like the 2 companies listed...... -
Averitt offers decent employment opportunities, have decent equipment, a solid customer base, and happy drivers that you will never see complain here. Heartland is okay, but not as great as Averitt.

So the author of the thread linked above was employed by Averitt for 13 years, was not happy, and didn't quit? Why stay employed at a company if you're not happy? This is America where one has the right to work at different companies as they see fit. You only get one life to live.

Have you looked at AAA Cooper? They have a terminal in Ellenwood Ga and they seem like decent folks. I deliver there a couple of times per week.

You said something in your post that you did not mean.
You are not looking for a company where you can get more miles. At least not if you want to be home weekends.
You are looking for a company that will pay you more for less work. Which is what we all want.
I do not know anything about Averitt. I have been with Heartland for over a year now though.
They are ok. Not great.
You will make allot more money working full OTR for a better rate than you were getting at Swift, than you will working regional and being home weekends. At least when you are only looking at box truckload company's.
To get more money than you are making now you would need to look at LTL, Flat, or Tank jobs. Regional or home weekend loads you will average 2000-2500 miles per week. No matter what company you go to it will not be more than that.
And the best tank and LTL company's are looking mostly for experienced drivers. Meaning drivers with 3+ years. No tickets. No accidents.Miles_Of_Truckin Thanks this.
