Calex Express....My New Home!

Hey Johnboy ,I just got home this afternoon , I have a Thurs del. at walgreens at 1:30 in the afternoon . Any insight on this one I have not delivered to this customer yet. Although I have heard be preparied to wait . Thanks for the help with the NY it helped. Louie said I could take this load or sit in PA for the weekend , so a few xtra days at home. I can feel for your payroll issues, lost a lumper reciept for the week before Christmas that was the last check i got . It will work out. The mount for TV looks good , what kind is it ? I have a 22 inch TV that just sits in there on top of my dvd.

 

tv looks good, I enjoy seeing what other people do to fix up their trucks looks like you keep it clean, you must be pretty anal like me

good luck John, just so you know I-85 north of Commerce where I live is passable,down south dont know how to handle the snow, you might want to bypass Atlanta I here I-285 is a mess.I talked to Meredith again today, she called me , I think she wants me to come to work pretty bad but she said no pressure, I am trying to decide between Calex and a small company close to home. as long as I could run like you do I think it would work good ,up to NJ,back to Fl then up to Griffin or Greenville to reload would get me home to Commerce every week.

 

well im at home for my 34hr i delivered to otay mesa aka san diego aka mexican border this morning i was in and out in abt 45mins which i was pleased with got home abt 130 my time had a call from jason as i was parking asking if i could get a load tommorow but told him i didnt have the hrs to get it back in time so ill get a load on thursday.. But anyways on my trip out from pa the truck was in the shop for 2 days for some reason when the mechanic worked on my truck and adjusted my fuel tank he turned off the valves for the fuel tank well they called me on wensday to tell me that the valves on the right side where shut off they told me about the one valve that i saw on top was closed so i opened it what i didnt know was about the 2nd valve below the fuel tank well everything goes good tell i get to utah mm 84 the truck shuts down on I70w well i get towed into richfield to come to find out the the right side fuel tank was bone dry but my left side tank was full still as my fuel gauage read half of tank well come to find out there was a 2nd valve that was closed that no one in the shop told me abt when they called i even asked where the other one was and got no response so that was my eventfull week im kinda pissed off about the valve cause it shouldve been the mechanics responsibility to turn those valves back on not mine im paid to drive the truck not to work on it so i hope i dont get charged for the tow bill

 

I had a similar problem with a Volvo truck that had been parked for 2 years before being put in service. The fuel tanks were fine and the valves were open but the air breathers at the top of the tanks had become packed with insects that chose to make nests in the air lines. This prevented enough air into the tanks to displace the fuel and let it flow normally. I "ran out of fuel" twice with this truck but had sense enough to siphon fuel from one tank to the other rather than call for a tow truck. Where did I get my siphon hose? I cut a 10 foot length of hose from my 50 foot air hose and then replaced the air hose when I got to a truck stop. Empty gallon water jugs provided the means to transport the fuel from one tank to the other.

If you are going to be an OTR driver you really should have some basic tools with you; A Fuel filter wrench, a spare fuel filter, spare bulbs, tire gauge, 50 foot air hose, funnel, spare fluids, a couple gallons of drinking water, an air line splice kit, spare fuses, a basic set of tools, duct tape, bungee cords, and a couple of 35 foot tow chains. I carry all this and more in my company truck and rarely ever have to call anyone for "help."
