Some of the minor differences are semi-interesting... up here you can shift in the intersection, but they don't want you to shift while TURNING in an intersection.
So you start rolling... go from 2nd to 3rd.... turn... then hit 4th on up after the turn.

Good stuff, I have quite a long list now. Thank you everybody! Anyone on here who took their driving test anywhere in CA, feel free to PM me what instructors are looking for in the city you tested in.

Know your brake bleed down test. Most won't make you do it, but ask you how it's done.
Most likely you'll go under an overpass or train trestle. Afterwards the tester will ask you what the clearance was. -
You talking about a driving test for a company, or getting your CDL at a school or DMV? I went up on a curb at a company driving test and still passed. -
Any of those.
-
I know when I went through school they always told us that if we hit a curb that would fail us on the cdl test. Like I said before I did curb it on a company test and I was ok, I passed. As far as doing the cdl with the dmv I don't know.

Walking away without the ability to get your license...

Ha Ha too funny! Pretty easy area I thought.
While it states that in the book, if you ask the instructor if he'd rather get through the intersection quickly or crawl across in your take off gear, he'll answer.
His answer was: "Your choice, just don't miss a shift" With a smirk on his face.
I didn't miss one....lol -
Here here...easy on the lawyer stuff, my daughter and her husband are both lawyers. She is now teaching, since she got fed up with dealing with lying clients and other jackazz lawyers. She said the amount of BS that goes on just drove her nuts. Her husband is a lawyer in the Army, and thats a whole different ballgame.
Oh,and they don't get paid .23 a mile or 8 bucks a hour which ever is more either. -
Some of the list has been noted above but you need to finish the pre-trip before you can move on to the backing skills. Then if you pass that you can attempt the on rd. Maybe someone mentioned all this (I didn't have time to read much more than the orig.post) but in Va you are allowed 3 points on the backing.Need a ...Think it was 86 on pre-trip. Now I went to school in NC and the testing there allowed an 80 as passing for pre-trip and allowed frikin 7 ya 7 points on the backing! Techincally you can wipe out the whole side of cones because if it is one motion it counts as 1. You wouldn't pass because they deem it an unsafe manuver. In Va I had to do the strait back and curve or 30 degree back and NC has to do strait and 45 degree back. Also Va has much cheaper fees. $3 for permit and $30 for the license. Forget how much endorsements are but NC is like $86 ea.
