Once again Con-way and the Freight drivers at the hub/re-ship involved were burned by the "sub-service" driver/company that just could not make it because of a few snow flakes..

All I can hope is that Con-way Freight comes to their senses and eliminates all sub-service unless it's coast to coast using Con-way Truckload..

It just never showed up Wednesday night with no real reason.. They finally just told us to hook and go because the "sub-service" carrier couldn't really tell us when it would get there.. It got there at 4AM with a 1:20 ETA..

Thursday was a burn.. It was typical though - our Cincinnati terminal loads a van into Pittsburgh that never showed up because it was snowing.. Safety right?? Funny thing was every Freight driver made it in pulling a set and I made it running the happy trail around the tunnel pulling two 12's.. That POS showed up the next morning..

I was not fortunate enough not to be there Friday night but once again the "sub-service" van did not show up.. But Freight drivers were waiting on the clock costing us money and competent drivers time..

To all of you that pull LTL company loads let me make this very clear - your companies service sucks and if you can manage a few snowflakes as a driver you suck also..

I make no apologies.. Myself and many other Con-way Freight drivers are tracking your piss poor service and presenting the factual information to our line-haul department with the goal of getting you sorry excuses back where you belong - un-employment line, Mexico, and driving school..

I hope you have an understanding of where we're coming from.. You're delaying our trip back into heavy traffic areas with weather often being a factor.. Ever wonder why a Con-way or FedEx smokes you in the winter?? Save the accident comments because it's simply not true.. We have 1 DOT for every 1.9 million..

Sub-service sucks and from my experience the drivers do also..

Something tells me a qualified UPSF driver would not have done that - same as a qualified Con-way Freight driver would not have let us hang waiting on that wagon that was hours/a day late because of a few snow flakes..

In business and life you indeed get what you pay for right..

walleye, already gone and Freebird135 Thank this.

For one-way freight where they can cut down on running empties going the other way, they'll probably continue to sub-out to the lowest bidder.
It's just too expensive to pay company-drivers to pull empties around.

What's really scary is that there's a company called Roadrunner Transportation...they're like FedEx Ground of LTL...100% O/O.
You see these guys peddling around town in junk...lousy health bennies, no overtime, maybe make $35k/yr if they're employees working for a contractor.
It's sad...but that's the way the industry seems to be headed.

Heck, saw Fed/Ex pulling doubles today, 3 different locations, ALL MEXICANS. We need to have ALL the Mexicans to start contributing to the US. Put in, not just take out.

Come on now, were they Mexicans or Americans of Mexican decent? Can you tell? Were they well tanned Italians? Lebanese? Greek? Does Fed-Ex hire illegals?

I'm all for a fence (manned by armed personnel), and illegals ought to be deported, no amnesty, if you broke the law coming here, you should get cuffs and a boot back to where you came from. There is a legal process for immigration in place and it must be followed.

Maybe I'm not as perceptive as you, but I've always had a hard time guessing someone's immigration status by looking into their cab.

In the 1800's there were signs that read "No Irish" in many storefronts. They were later taken down and their memory apparently forgotten. Similar story with Germans, Poles, Scandinavians, Russians, so on and so forth with each european ethnic grouping. This is without even getting into the whole slavery issue or Jim Crow laws.

Have we learned nothing from history?

It does not matter if they are mexicans( NO mexican or whatever it is here needs to be here illegally) or whatever, fed ex is ALWAYS in the truck hammer lane holding a truck up along with cars, pick up trucks, motorcycles, buses, and whatever else is unlucky enough to run up on a fed ex. I risk that big ticket getting around that hot fed ex stuff but get around i do. I will now assume that if it is a foreign or other that they just can't read our English road signs and drive accordingly. One would think that fed ex would only hire legal and English speaking drivers but if they are inundated w/that hot freight(someone has got to pull it as it seems as if the true fed ex'ers are not getting the job done) they must hire whomever to haul said hot freight.

Is fed ex freight that hot?
Turn your trucks up and cease holding a working man up. After all,it is your truck, right? And that fed ex freight is that hot, right?

i am assuming it is after reading your rant regarding the late "scabs" or whatever they may be that haul fed ex. Apparently fed ex just needs that hot freight hauled,as in the fed ex'ers ain't cutting it alone, or they would not sub it out.
