NO local work past 1+yr.We're sitting at 10.7 percent unemployment here.
Job's are tight and most are paying squat with either no or very little in employee benefits.
Do have reservations on going back out after so long, but want and need to get back at it.
    My monthly overhead is approx $1150 p/mo.Am allegedly quaranteed approx 2200+ mile p/wk with JB,at .38 p/ml equate's to approx $838 a wk or approx $3344 p/mo. to start.
Beat's a sharp stick to the eye.Figured after 2wks running i would be reacclimated to OTR running again.
But do i want to go back out,not really.Good thing it's only myself to worry about in this economy, feel pretty bad for those with dependent's at home, gotta be brutal.
When i came off road in 05,was used to 3300-3600 p/wk in mile's.Thing's have really changed.just doing what i have to do.:biggrin_25513:

Good Luck making any money with JB Hunt. I did orientation in Concord, NC. So I do not know how Southgate does it. May be different.

I second the good luck wishes. When I worked for JB DCS I got miles. JB OTR was another story, over my 4 months otr (quit due to no miles, and a crap DM) I probably averaged 1700 miles per week at .40 cpm. JB tries to level out all their drivers pay. Those making low cpm will run and run ... high cpm will sit around and wait for high paying loads.

Orientation was a lot of company propaganda, saftey speeches, and videos when I was there 3yrs ago. If you know how to drive their road test is easy, just follow all the saftey stuff they preach when you are behind the wheel.

Hopefully you live close ... its luck of the draw on who you will be shacked up with if you are staying in the hotel.

I Went through orientation there at southgate back on 05 while there an ex driver cane in and complained about some bad dac info on his report he threatened to come back later for some payback they had him arrested. Got a bad feeling and didnt return after that anyways they also put some stuff on my Dac, my dac says I was a no show even though I didnt work for them 1 day only went to only orientation. Good luck, maybe theyve changed...perhaps
