I like not being a trucker sometimes. Especially when the whole country is covered in snow and I'm sitting in Phoenix.

Just keep in mind that central and south Texas is not the greatest location for home time. Your looking at four + weeks away from home.Son of a Trucker Thanks this. -
Well which is it. Is he gonna rule against the corporation, or pierce the corporate veil? Actually piercing the veil is not that easy. It is usually used in situations where a person has committed fraud and is using a corp to conceal or protect assets, not for sloppy record keeping.
Actually, most states have homestead laws that protect your residence from any type of collection proceeding. If you own more than one property, I would hope you have enough sense to hold them in separate corps or trusts. Addtionally, your carrier likely has $ 5 million in liability and you can always file bankruptcy if things get out of hand. If you kill someone in a wreck, even if your logbooks are perfect, you are going to get sued. Think ahead and you can screw the man and hold onto your assets.
Well, I think I have just demonstrated that it is just as wise to ignore advice from some suit with an agenda as it is to do so on 19. -
Thats not too bad as long as i can swing by my place once a month or so just to make sure the neighbors havent moved in.
Although I will say there are 2 crete trucks (int and freightshaker) not sure if its the exact same ones but there is a crete truck with a shaffer trailer that all travel 290 East between austin and houston weekly as I have been seeing them atleast once a week for a while now which is what made me check out Crete/Shaffer in the first place.

An in-your-face statement:
If your logs are not EXACTLY right or if you're running "presentable" logs separate from real time logs or doing any other shenanigans with logs (including not keeping them current), you're going to jail if you have an accident.
Here's a true story that I witnessed first hand. A member of our church congregation was doing the typical double log book stuff to keep rolling when he was T-boned at an intersection. All witnesses said he was not at fault and was proceeding properly through a green light at an intersection when vehicle 2 ran the red light.
The result - the truck driver (our church member) was sentenced to 7 years in jail in SC because if he had been running legally he wouldn't have been at that intersection.
Don't run illegal logs. Log it as you do it. I promise you that your company, what ever it is, will not stand up in court and thank you for running illegally to deliver their freight on time. They will, instead, to save their own skin, hang you out to dry by pointing to every policy and poster they have that says to run legally.
As ET points out, protect your CDL and obey the law. Your CDL is your means of earning a living in this industry. And keeping accurate, legal logs will keep you out of jail when the idiot in the 4-wheeler rear ends you. -
How's Crete to work for these days? I know they used to be very good, at least compared to most of the companies one could find out there.
And is ol' man Acklie still around? -
I'm stuck in GA, have been since 0001 Monday, due to the weather situation. (In the south we believe that if God put it here, He can take it away.) What has humored me the most is that no one can seem to make it to work to load or unload their freight, but they can make it to the Wal-Mart.
evertruckerr Thanks this.
