I appreciate the responses I've received already. As a dedicated driver now I miss the road but enjoy time with the family and now it's only in the middle of the week. Looking for weekends so I can do things with my son, clean trucks, and at least 2,000 per week avg miles.
Keep the solid feedback coming. -
Heartland is ok, but not great. You can get a regional job and be home like 3 out of 4 weekends if that is all you want. The money is average for this kind of work. Bad points bout Heartland is No power inverters of ANY kind in the truck period. Not even the little ones that plug into cig lighters. If they find one, you are history. Expect long lines every time you go thru a terminal to go thru the inspection bay. This will happen alot as they mostly only fuel at terminals. Once in awhile you may need to fuel on the road, BUT only after calling fuel dept (during their business hrs) and giving them your weight ect to get a PO # for exactly the amount of fuel they feel will get you thu a terminal. This is usually down to the gallon. They are pretty tight with their idle time. Only if real hot, or cold, and even at that you only have so much time. If you go over that amount then the trucks will self govern themselves down, and it is a pain to get them reset. I left on good terms, and am elegable for rehire. These were the main points that I didnt like about them. Good luck.

We applied at Heartland (we are a team) They accepted my husband, but denied me. I am overweight, if your BMI is over 40. they won't take you. They won't tell you that, I have asked why written them taken a new physical (Which said I was more than able to do my job) and they still said no... and cannot get an answer. But an agent for them told me thier policy. My driving record is completely clear. ..So I tend to believe him.

Crete has a terminal in Marietta and is generally considered to be a good company.

This has changed.
Now most fuel is at Pilot and some loves.
The lines are shorter, since nobody goes into a terminal unless they have too.
No PO needed for fuel anymore eather.
On the BMI thing.
I have no idea.
Mine is not low, and I had no issue getting hired. And I have seen people allot larger than me go in for Orientation recently.
They do not have you do a physical, unless you are not current at date of hire. -
I've seen drivers so big it looked like the truck was gonna tip over when they put their foot on the step. I have no idea what their going to do in the future.
-
Yea That's anywhere.. I am average compared to some people I have seen. Besides they should see a person before they make judgement. I can do my job.
Doesn't matter, we are going with a company from our area. The pay per mile isn't as good. But they pay for alot more things.. I think we will be much better off. -
Bjones,
Being that you have a year, I would look at regional opportunities or dedicated until you can get another year in. Have you thought of taking your son out in the summer???

Why ask for company recommendations on the BAD company board ? Reverse psychology at work my friends and we are the lab monkeys.
