I am very disappointed in this GPS. I am on my 3rd unit since buying it originally. The sound quit working within the first 2 weeks of purchasing the first unit. I exchanged it at the truck stop where I got it and the USB port on the 2nd unit actually came out of the unit when I went to unplug it. This was about 60 days after purchase. I was able to send it back to Rand and they sent me another unit. I am 3 days into using this unit and the USB port is already having issues. The screen flickers and goes off and the unit only charges intermittently. I love the interface but the hardware sucks! I hope Rand will replace this one for me.

what are the numbers now and when it is off the hwy, what are the numbers.
You should have a minimum of 4 used to have you placed on the hwy, any less and the GPS has not got a good lock on your position, so your position may be off.
thanks,
Mark -
would that be why it wants to route me off of interstate for a few miles then right back on?
-
ya you just got mcnallyd!!!! kind of like an episode of punked but they wont come from behind the screen and shake your hand.
-
We suggest that a minimum of 4 used to get you close to your physical location.
If your units does not see 4, then it could be a hardware issue.
Thanks,
Mark -
I am trying to run a support thread here. Please let me do what I can for the users and others whom need help or info.
thanks,
MarkGears Thanks this. -
Holly cow!! let me pick myself up off the floor, did you say support thread? now I am confused kind sir. Who exactly are you trying to help because all I have seen is your intermittent posts or I guess when ever you decide to logon and help someone out, but the majority of your responses are, and I quote " its must be a hardware issue, you need to update, or the typical did you contact rand customer support? or the one that really burns me up is email me again and remind me why? that was funny, as is the support thread you claim this is. What exactly do you do? beta tester, so they randomly give someone a TND and say go use it and report back to Mr. Rand or Mr. McNally? so when exactly are you going to help these guys with the 100 or so map issues and bugs? just curious here. Lets see would you like me to quote the 50 or so questions you never responded too?. When are you going to fix the MAP issues, nobody cares about whether or not you add a female voice, I mean seriously, or can I have flames behind my truck? this unit should of never been specified as trucker approved with all the issues on this thread. I would take a 89.00 dollar wall mart garmin over this unit anyday and it would outperform it on map functions as im sure if you read these posts you will see. Please tell us with all your beta wisdom exactly what issues you have fixed? or what Rand has fixed over the last few months because all I see are the same redundant issues over and over. Yes it is a tool, but for 400 dollars it better get me were i want to go, not in the general area. You of all people should know that you cant hide the real problem by adding another feature? Root cause scenario! you guys know what that is right? Please tell me there is more being done, please tell me this is not all you have for us?. And yes Mcnallyd is a term used to best describe a person who has spent 400 dollars on a GPS in hopes of getting to a specified location,
were in turn every trip turns out to be an episode of punked.

actually i think he does a very good job of support. in all reality he doesn't have to do this. this is a public forum and im pretty sure rand didn't tell him to start a support thread on a public trucker forum to help people. if they did i applaud them as it shows they actually care about the users.
he does have other responsibilities in the company other then answering posts on a thread here. he gets to this thread when he can. he even supplies his email so people can contact him. give the guy a break. he is only one guy.
i have had my unit for over 2 months and it works flawlessly. are you guys being rough on them? plugging and unplugging roughly? i have mine mounted on the window, sitting on the dash so it supported and i haven't had any problems with plugs or sound or anything else. have the units been dropped? are they being slammed around? if so that will cause problems too.NFG, truckpc, Dieselboss and 1 other person Thank this.
