I used to work for JBS, I can tell you they have tons of semi tractors empty. Have to ask yourself, why is that? Well, I started out at .40 cents a mile and was chopped back to .30 per mile with a .10 cent perdiem that will be based on a over all mileage rate , and uses up your total amount you have coming from the government for a tax break. I dislike any company that pumps up their pay scale to make you think your making out well per mile. This is miss leading. They will tell you your making .40 per mile and believe it to your face. This could be a great company, if they paid you practical miles, other then short miles, and drop the perdiem. Also, the guy wanting to tell you to use his name gets a recruiting bonus, so this is the truth about my experience with JBS. For your question, you shouldn't have trouble getting on, last time I looked, they had hundreds of empty tractors.

The road test was not bad. Much more than around the block. Easy country roads, a little highway, railroad xing etc.. Watch out for the turn coming from the highway to the terminal road. Tricky if there are cars waiting where you have to turn. One back with lots of room (and I STILL messed it up!!). I think they understand you are a rookie and nervous though. Try not to lose sleep over it like I did!scottied67 Thanks this.

Any newer JBS employees out there that can provide honest and accurate feedback from their employment experiences with JBS?

Hey Blackshirts r u on the road with your trainer? How's your experience been for you so far?
-
skyhawk, how long ago did you drive for JBS Carriers?

This is sooooo true!!! They have a lot of empty trucks and a high turn over rate and they really cut you miles by pretty much giving you household good miles.. AND ALWAYS watch your checks they like to mess up a lot and more so if you go to NYC... AND NEVER have a pet in your truck for ANY reason what so ever... They fire on the spot for it.. JBS needs to get their act together big time because they are losing really good drivers left n right!!!

TruckinShadow. When did you last drive for JBS? As in one earlier post, all companies have processes and proceeduers. You as a employee have to follow them, they are not to be bent. I have found out that if you talk to someone about the problem, have all your facts, then the problem cant be worked out. We as people are not without error, if you show me a perfect person, I will show you a liar.

So I had thought about applying with them but....do you get paid shortest route miles, practical miles, or what exactly? I don't see how they can tell you are going to make .40 cpm miles then change it to .30 cpm once you start w/them. I am not calling you a lier, just confused.
I still cannot figure out why that Doc guy quit. He would not say and I really do not want to make another mistake with getting on with a bad company. I made one big mistake of getting on w/JB Hunt a couple of years ago. So I want some facts before I put in an application w/JBS...
