    I disagree...
Yes, it's his truck, and when he's driving it if he doesn't want to do a pre-trip FINE don't push it.

BUT when you are behind the wheel you are the one in charge of that truck. And if there is something wrong with it, especially something that should have been caught on the PTI, you are responsible. IF you are inspected and they catch it, could cost you $$$. IF you are in an accident, could you live with yourself if something that you should have found on the PTI caused the accident?

I know, there are some here that will say that I am being extreme about this. I'm just putting it out there. IMHO, you as the driver will have to make the final decision as to whether you do one or not.

A bit late to the party but good to see that Injun was on the case... she is definitely someone to have in your corner!!! As for pre-tripping the Mentor's truck, just because he doesn't do a pre-trip doesn't mean you can't do one. Unless he is physically restraining you while you are attempting a pre-trip, which is a whole 'nother set of problems, you are fully capable of performing a pre-trip on any truck you are on. As you have already stated he has told you to show 30 minutes on your logs, why not use that time to actually get out and have a look-see under the hood, kick the tires, and "Pre-Trip" the truck?

My Mentor was kinda lax about pre-tripping his truck but I didn't see that as my problem. Before I drove the truck I would at least do a "Walk Around" and make sure nothing was missing, broken, or damaged. Every time I stop to fuel I pop the hood and check the fluids and give the truck a good once-over. Always remember, when you are on Line 3 it is your CDL on the line. Regardless whose truck it is, anything wrong with the truck, the load, or the weights on the axles is YOUR responsibility. Don't let anyone else's laziness end up costing you your career... do what you know to be right, idiots be ######!!!

    #### Wiley... you're quick today.

Am I to understand (maybe I read it wrong) that you are going back w/the same trainer that was going to leave you in the truck for 3 days? Wouldn't answer the phone when YOU called, but would when the Co. called to bring you your medicine? You are a brave person if that's the case... I don't know if I could 'trust' the trainer after that... best of luck to you and I hope time goes QUICKLY and SAFELY!!

this is the fastest moving thread i'v ever seen receiving this many hits by caring swift drivers, and HILLYBILLY is wright you don't see drivers help much at all, it was the same 1993 to 2004 when i left the field, you have very tight appointments to meet and no time to waste, i was thinking of coming back to the trucking field this summer, and had 3 companys i was looking at, swift, millis transfer, and central refrigerated, now after reading all the swift drivers coming to help BLUEBONN make's my pick very easy, swift is the only place to be hands down, i'm very proud of YENS, and to BLUEBONN you have to keep us updated for the next year or two and with pic's of your puppy that you have, and good luck, don't forget the big steeler game sunday at 6:30

and keep agitating the o/o and see if one lives to see another day, or gets dropped off in the middle of no-where, with out a way to get home. this guy went thru hell now as it is, do you subscribe to the notion he continue to ruffle his feathers..?? its obvious the o/o doesn't give a flip about the truck, heck he's probably going to stick swift with a busted up truck and leave the company, he probably does not care and nagging him is only going to make matters so much more worse. maybe you haven't had an @ZZ for a trainer, but I DID when i first started out and i'm sure many others here have as well....DO NOT aggravate any situation...LET IT GO.....by your BIO, you do not even have a years worth of experience yet, so you want to choose your battles that you WILL WIN....get more years of experience, and you will see.

If BlueBonn is driving at the time they get pulled in for an inspection, wouldn't he be responsible for the condition of the mentors truck and any problems , and get the points put on his license?

Never mind. I saw the post above.

You know that large board with all those slats for different carriers to put little cards in with brief info about why their company is the best? I grab a few to read while in the bathroom. Humor always makes that time go by faster.
