This actually is against Verizon's Terms and Conditions. It specifically states in there that you are not allowed to tether your device to any other device unless you are subscribed to the Mobile Broadband Connect/Mobile 3G Hotspot feature.

However, the loophole in their Terms and Conditions is it doesn't say that feature is what you have to use to do the tethering, just that you have to be subscribed to it. Sure, it's $20 a month, but then you aren't breaking their policies by using PdaNET. Otherwise, they have every right to terminate your line because you're violating.

I made sure I went over their Terms and Conditions before switching, and only made the switch because of that loophole.

Well according to a supervisor at verizon it is not agaisnt their policy because of the fact that any app available on the android market is allowed.

That was told to me straight by a supervisor who said she shouldn't be telling me that but did because of my situation (the rep who sold me my droid said my old 5GB broadband would carry over and it can't).

I'm just going by what she said. I have her name and 2 other people heard her say it to me so I'm not worried about them terminating my line :)

I liked the angry birds game, but the advertising gets really, REALLY intrusive after a while, so be prepared for that (great game though to kill time.) Paper toss was another fun game.

As for apps, I have Droid Light (can use the led flash for a flashlight which is handy) AK Notepad (which is about to be uninstalled because it likes to pop up the editing menu and delete the note I'm working on, but will be replaced with some other notepad type app) and Scanner Radio which lets me listen in on police bands, which was really handy when I had a couple of scumbags living near me.

    Hope this helps some.

Task killers are pointless, as you can do that under manage applications, I highly recommend juice defender though.

not if it is the same app i tried out several months ago.. it is developed by someone overseas and the UI was not very easy to navigate.. way too confusing in my opinion..

I use CardioTrainer to make sure I'm getting at least a little bit of exercise every week. It has different settings (walk, run, stationary bike), can integrate a playlist, and can give you a voice update for miles/minute/pace.

My bank has an app that I use to keep track of my money on the go.

I second DroidLight... awesome for emergencies... and Kindle for free and potable reading.

Latitude keeps my mom from panicking about where I'm at (sometimes) and Navigation is better than any individual GPS I've used.

NFL Mobile and ESPN Sportscenter for my football fix.

Slacker Radio for saved playlists and TuneIn Radio for local stations on the go.

UrbanSpoon, Yelp, Where, and MovieNight for finding things to do and places to go.

Okay, I might be a little addicted to my phone...

    Some of my favorites:
Weatherbug - Best weather app for truck drivers. the app will keep track of your current location and give you the weather details, as well as a looping radar map.
Redbox-just now came out with an official app that will let you reserve titles at a kiosk from within the app itself.
Google Chrome to Phone-Lets you send a webpage directly to your phone to read on the go (requires browser extension)
Phone to Chrome-Does the opposite of the former app, lol (requires browser extension)
Screen Filter-dims screen even more than system allows, great for night reading
Lookout- for security and virus scanning (although i have never had an issue with any viruses)
Google Voice - voicemail, transcribes your messages so you dont have to listen to them
launcherPro-Home replacement app, allows for more customization

If you decide to root your device you can use the following apps
-Wireless Tether for Root users-FREE (turn your phone into a mobile hotspot)
-MinFreeManager-FREE (adjust the phones memory settings to allow for more free memory therefore speeding your phone up)
-Titanium Backup-FREE or PAID (backup apps, uninstall bloatware apps)
-Cachemate for Root Users-FREE (clears out cache, again helps in speeding phone up)

Sorry, I hope that doesn't overwhelm anybody.. I know there are a ton of other useful apps as well, but thats a start, heh
