Since Im broke and have no money to learn how to drive at a real trucking school, I decided to self study for the written and then find someone who has a truck or a construction company to train me in exchange for some free labor. Anyway, I stumbled on this web site called CDL Quiz dot com that has sample test questions. I signed up and took the CDL with all endorsements written test and passed with flying colors. Since the NJ was hard, I recommend this test to people who are going to truck driving schools that are having a tough time and those like me who are self studying and cant afford a real truck driving school with classroom study.
It was only $30 too. :biggrin_25519:

I am curious how this route worked out for you. skipping the OTR with a trainer and everything.

did you have any problems getting a job? what was your starting pay?

Once you got OTR, did you run into any problems that made you say "i wish i had gotten the road time with a trainer so i would know how to deal with this?"

also, what did you have to do labor-wise in order to get someone to let you use their truck?

I still did the road preparation through a local truck driving school. Even if you are going to go through a truck driver approved training, you should still use the cdlquiz.com services. Many people still failed the tests from the school and had to go back serveral times. I self studied and it was great.

all one has to do is go online and take FREE practice tests. go to the local DMV and get FREE CDL manual.....

why pay online testing...??? that's $30 in your pocket......

now, you'd be VERY lucky if someone goes for your deal about free labor, as they would still be responsible for you under workmans comp laws....

can't you try your state for the WIA program..??? its no cost to you....!!!

Then I guess for not going to school yet - I'm doing 'ok'... still aiming for higher on these though - that way I can concentrate on the driving part :D

I am very disappointed in the CDLQuiz.com cuz of the inconsistant scoring, the blank questions or blank answers, yes it did help a bit but if you read your states guide book and cristcdl.com, quizlet.com and truckingtruth.com you should be ready to go. I was going to get my cdl through a school but i didn't want the 6 months plus I gave up my apt and car to do all of this. Otherwise I would have becasue they have funding with the state.
I love the training program with Prime.

can't say for sell states, but the CDL book is free, in NV, you can down load it for free on their web page, why pay money out off your pocket, you still have to study? Someone just figured out how to squeeze $30. Bucks out of you for doing what you could do for free
