Husker, yes I;m having problems with my Qualcom was in Sheldon last for and did not fix the problem, went to Richmond Va on Tuesday to have it looked at no good.So I'm in Chitown waiting for a load heading to Sheldon tomorrow for a new one? I'll be glad when it's fixed kinda of got used to it.
Jellybean, there are a few O/O's with Van Wyk and I guess they're doing ok, there're still there LOL.
Kulwhip, good luck I have no complaint's that they have put on me, regarding percentage some loads pay more than other's so ask what the load pays and you"ll get an idea what your making. Regarding home time I'm usually home on Friday or Saturday, this week I didn't get in until Sunday afternoon and came back out yesterday, should be home Monday or Tuesday, remember if you want to run your ##### off you can.
Be safe. -
So Matt you out here to huh? lol... im in Windom getting loaded at PM Beef, about 30 miles northeast on 60 from Worthington, when my qualcomn went down they first tried to fix it at sheldon and then once they found out they didnt have an answer for it to richmond i went and they got it fixed on the first try..what was wrong with my qualcomn was i keep getting a white screen with a blinking box at the top right corner... trust me i missed mines like hell while it was down even tho it helped a couple of times when i was out of ours for the two weeks it was off i got to fudge the book a little lol
Any how im getting kinda of tired of running across 80 so i hope im back running my bread and butter out of front royal next couple of weeks!! even tho they been getting hit with storms i just want a chance too earn my three nortons and go home for the weekend and get stupid drunk!!
Kulwhip if i may, im not too sure if your going to see every weekend home...i've had heard gripes from midwest drivers (sheldon and kansas city) about being out on past 5 to 6 days.. and usually they are the grumpest set of guys except for huskey_trucker lol but even with them gripping they are usually happy... but you well stay moving my friend i can guarantee you that and get ready to see plenty of the ohio turnpike, pa turnpike, indiana toll road, and 80 across illinois... but i hope you enjoy working with us, overall its an good company!! -
hey guys thanks for the info really not too worried about it being on weekends or not as long as it doesnt turn into being gone two or three weeks at a time I can drink a beer on a tuesday just as good as I can on a saturday you guys do raise a couple of more questions do they have the I pass to run all the tolls and do they have fuel cards to fuel anywhere or do they have specific places they want you to fuel at I also read somewhere that the trucks have CB radios allready in them is this true or do I need to bring mine You guys have been a great help and I cant thank you enough for all the info that has been given thanks again BE SAFE OUT THERE

Welcome aboard kulwhip! I just came on two weeks ago, got the same impression you did. They seem to be the only company no one talks bad about. Although now that I actually work here, I am ######## already, but that's truckin'! My name is Brian, truck 661 (386 Pete with a bunk door window). I'm in Sheldon now, probably won't end up leaving 'til after noon tomorrow.
Yes we have EZ-Pass and Pre Pass in the trucks for weigh station bypass. You run your own routes and Van Wyk will pay any tolls. You will get a TCH card and you run your own fuel stops. Pick a Pilot or Flying J and go for it! Trucks are CB equipped. I ran theirs until I made it home! -
hey Hawk, got to Sheldonn this morning around 2 after dropping a load at La Mars, so I'm here to get my Qualcom fixed, well at least I hope so,used paper logs the last 2 days almost forgot how to fill them out LOL, I agree with you' the northeast loads are more predictable but I, like you and few others have been coming out here for awhile now so yes it gets pretty tiring but I have nothing else to complain about. Be safe and don't drink all the beer!

@hawkjr, grumpy huh? I always try to keep my cherubic jovial demeanor everyday! Made it back with a load of bananas & dropping them off # HyVee in Chariton then somehow Dale is getting me up to Sheldon so I can drop the trainee off to get some home time, but still not sure what I will do after that since we are planning on heading back out on Sunday afternoon. I don't know about you guys, but now that they added Pilots to the list it has been working out very well, especially in the NW where J's are pretty scarce. I'll keep an eye out for you Mattaponi when I am up at the yard.

Welp, misread your post hawk, my bad. When I was reading and replying to this I was trying to do this and pay attention to my trainee at the same time. I guess I can't do two things at the same time! Ended up dropping my trainee off at the yard so he can get home for the weekend and I made a run to Columbia, MO, gotta make that dollar I guess. Be safe.

What kind of money are you guys making each week? Sounds like a good company just wondering what kind of bucks you take home each week. Haven't been on the road for a while, doing local work for years but getting tired of same roads every day. thanks.

I don't really talk actual dollar amounts of my paychecks but I average between .35 to .39 cpm. Averaging 3000 to 3600 miles a week. They don't force you to run that amount of miles, this is just my choice. We are paid on a percentage basis plus we get a two week mileage bonus that compensates us for keeping our idle time low. Pretty nice getting free money every two weeks.
