This may sound like a stupid question. If your a one person company and driving for yourself. Do you still have to have a driver file with a application on yourself with driver verification ?
-
Yes. They look at it as a full company.
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
You bet!
I am treated just like a large company in the eyes of the DOT/FMCSA.rookietrucker Thanks this. -
You also have to have accident records files and vehicle maintenance records files. Pretty easy to get all the forms you need in two booklets . . . One on WI DOT website and one on FMCSA's website. Both explain the records you have to keep and even provide the forms you will need, complete with driver file, vehicle file, and everything else you will need.

So, Why does it upset you so much that Hanadarko has the luxury of owning his truck outright and being able to spend as much money on it as he wants to without fear of missing a truck payment of going broke?
He seems to want to just ace the audit and want's to be prepared for whatever they might ask for....Is that somehow offensive to you?
I have spoken with Hanadarko a number of times on the phone and have found him to be a very smart guy and quite personable so I wonder where you get that he is difficult to deal with.
He's not interested in hauling for no money and is willing to wait till he finds his niche so that he doesn't have to haul for nothing like so many of you guys out here do...
I've seen lots of guys spend thousands more than their truck is worth just because they want to....Is that a problem for you?
If so...Why?
It's his money and his time and more importantly it's HIS truck! Not his and the banks...HIS!
If he has no business sense, How do you suppose he has enough money to do what you only wish you could do?
You Know....Own the truck free and clear and be able to do with it what you please.
If he decides to chop the top off of it and fill it with dirt and plant flowers in it, It's his business!
Yes....Yes it does!
It shows me that he's not a chump and that he is not willing to settle for the crap that most of these companies call rates.
The fact that you seem to think it's your business tell us a lot about you!
So, It looks to me like you woke up this morning and realized how bad your life sucks and decided to lash out at someone that has his act together and has afforded himself the luxury of being able to run his business in his own terms.Hanadarko, Fratsit and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
HAHA... owey, i'm hurt

I think what MM is getting at is he is tired of Hanadarko making posts and spending all this time, being puffed up about being a "true" owner operator and all he really has is a old truck, bunch of bills, no trailer and -- wait for it -- NO REVENUE, because he has his paid for rig parked. Get this, Hanadarko hasn't even run and he has already changed his insurance. Well, if you can believe his posts.

Well, I for one, like to see what Handardo is doing. AND it seems to me that he likes to have his ducks in a row before jumping in with both feet. NOTHING wrong with that.
Had I known about this board, before we bought our truck, I think that we would have done things differently too.
Handarko is doing things the right way, in my opinion. Getting every piece of the puzzle in place, before he starts to rely on the truck for his single source of income.
Some people call it playing it safe, I call it playing it SMART!
He's setting himself up to be a successful O/O, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. At lease he has some control on his own destiny, and isn't at the mercy of some big company that actually holds all of the eggs in their basket.Hanadarko and Tankergirl80 Thank this.
