AZ stopping trucks

Why was a mudflap higher than 8in off the roadway? Did you install it with flat tires?

 

No tape/reflectors on mudflaps, no tape on upper corners of sleepers, mudflaps higher than 8inches....
Why are you guys operating trucks that don't meed DOT regulations?

 

As far as reflective tape on the truck and mud flaps. My trucks an 06 and i bought it new with a custom paint job and it had no tape on the corner of the sleeper and it never will same with on my full wti fenders, not going to happen. How did everyone see the trucks before this new law took place, just fine, its just all bs brought on to us buy people that have no clue about the real world. Whats the tape at the corner of the sleeper or cab for, aircraft, thats why i have running lights in the back and if the trucks parked and you need the tape to see it get some glasses. Why dont we paint all the trucks a florecence color that way there we can be seen all the time.

 

Alot of guys that run off road run higher mud flaps and 8 inches is not that high of the ground. that must be an Az law because i do not believe it is federal.

 

They do sell two different size mudflaps. A long and short depending on whether it attaches to the frame mount or a hanging bracket. You see some dump truck drivers with cut off mudflaps because they can't figure not to push on that pile of dirt they just dumped. You don't rip mudflaps off going forward.

 

In all fairness.....I just put a PrePass in my truck and the INSTRUCTIONS are pretty specific for two different PreePass units.
PreePass must be installed in the center at least 2 inches but no more than 3 inches below the top of windshield, while
PrePass Plus must be installed at least 2 inches but no more than 3 inches above the bottom of windshield.
But I am not sure what specific regulation is violated by having your PrePass in the wrong place.

 

As long as you carry this attitude, it is going to cost you time and money. Can't say I feel sorry for you. I've worked for guys like you before.....

49 CFR 393.60
(e) Prohibition on obstructions to the driver's field of view--(1) Devices mounted at the top of the windshield. Antennas, transponders, and similar devices must not be mounted more than 152 mm (6 inches) below the upper edge of the windshield. These devices must be located outside the area swept by the windshield wipers, and outside the driver's sight lines to the road and highway signs and signals.

This law that you THINK is new was in effect when your truck was sold.

You purchased a truck that was SOLD originally with the required markings. The CUSTOM paint job you had done, violates the law as written. I do not care what arguement you provide, the vehicle is not in compliance with the law.

 

No you dont rip them off going forward but backing into a muddy job, log landing or at a land fiil and you most certainly will rip them off if there not high enough.
