Definitely hiring. Albany would be a great fit. Location wise. Its pretty much a drop yard for us but has a regional group there as well as drivers break room and laundry/ showers/microwave,coffee and the sorts. Gotta try the Jamaican jerk wings at 2nd stop bar up hill in cartersville. Can't go there myself without taking the short walk to get, em. Best of luck.

Thanks Sully!
Is that right beside the Pilot on 82? Wish they had an orientation there, better than the 3.5 hour ride up to Cartersville (we're actually about 40 miles north of Albany).
Thanks for the tip about the wings, we are wing-nuts!
I'm talking to DH on the phone as he drives thru Texas, I think we're both getting a bit excited about contacting Millis, he's going to call tomorrow.
Thanks a ton guys for helping us out!Last edited: Jan 25, 2011

If his record is clean, I think he would have a good chance of getting hired out of Albany. They are hiring from what I've heard.
OMyStarz Thanks this. -
How clean?
(just kidding)
He has 2 tickets that would show up on a 7 year MVR but not a 3 year, neither of them in a CMV, and no accidents so I think he should be good to go in that respect.
Do they hold orientation in Albany? That would be a dream come true!
Thanks Bear for the heads up! -
No they don't orientation Albany have to go to Cartersville. We have otr, regional, and dedicated just depends on what they have openings for. Sometimes you have to go over the road till a regional or dedicated spot opens but usually does not take to long. Right now it seems that the road drivers are staying the busiest from the guys i know that run regional have told me.

Okay jus quick question I have my cdl I called alice today she said summin about I need to pay 500 up front and it will be 2500 total,is this some other course you have to go thru to work for them or did she not think I already had my CDL
-
Michael I don't work for Millis, but in my reading I notice that even if you have your CDL you have to have one year of verifiable experience or you have to go through their training course.
Do you have 1 year experience? If you don't perhaps that's the reason why you were referred to the training.
Good Luck! -
Good to know information, thanks Spanky!
Can't wait until tomorrow's phone call, hopefully they got his application (submitted online). -
So, from what I gather, Millis stays pretty much east of the Mississippi. Looking at their website, I like the hometime guarentee. How often do they get you guys home?Is it realistic to be home every 3 weeks? Is it possible for Newbies to get regional work?
-
You can go home every weekend if you want you just better not complain about the miles you get. In order to get you home they will keep you running shorter loads to get you home. Most road drivers seem to stay out every other weekend and some stay 3 and 4 weeks at a time. yes you can get regional work right out of school but all they have in PA is otr no regional up there. And yes primarily east of Mississippi river but we have been running more and more to Texas
TallGuy50 Thanks this.
