Dude... all that extra light at the front of the truck (where fog lights are aimed) doesn't help you at night. Your eyes adjust to the higher light level in the 30' in front of the truck, making it harder for you to see an object at 350'. That's the way your night vision works.
Fog Lights?

they do light up the ditches when running in the rural areas on a 2 lane rd.... as for that... but so do high beams and when running in those areas traffic is not as heavy and you can run your high beams more any ways...
i don't have foglights on my truck and don't see a need for them they are more for the rookies that need a little extra safe feeling kinda like a security blanket for a baby... -
I will repeat for those with poor reading comprehension skills, the elderly, the very young and Fairshake:
What that last sentence means is fog lights reflect brutally off water on the highway and you might as well be running with your brights on except that your fog lights serve no purpose. Which is to say, it is my business if you are blasting my night vision away because of your ignorance. Therefore, if you are coming toward me with your fog lights on, especially on wet roads, you are likely to get blasted by my brights and then wonder why I did it.
There is no need to run with your fog lights on unless there is fog. That's why they are called "fog" lights. They have been proven to be as useful while driving on any day or night without fog as driving with your work lights on. Which I have been guilty of a couple of times...because my work light switch is a push-button right next to my headlight switch and will activate my work lights with a soft brush of my hand. However, like my fog lights, I turn them off as soon as I notice.NWMAXI Thanks this. -
kinda the point i was making. there isnt any reason to run with fog lights on at night unless its 'foggy'. any driver who uses fog lights during the day or night and its not foggy, in my opinion, uses them just to try to 'look cool'. either that, or they're too dumb to know that most trucks have a seperate switch or extra "click" of the switch to turn them on. Just because your headlights are on, dont mean your fog lights have to be either. Seriously, just makes you look dumb.....scottied67 Thanks this. -
I say they aren't dumb...freakin #######...probably the same peeps who don't sweep every trailer. I put ductape over mine...well maybe that was to hold the bumper up...lol

Tryin' to put some bling on it with Arkansaws Chrome???

They were put on the trucks for a reason, if they can help in other situations then by all means people should use them. If they are on during the daytime, how is this effecting you anyway? Most likely they just flipped the switch without even noticing. I even have a bug with my current volvo, while driving my window wipers will suddenly wipe once and my bright lights will come on at the same time. No I don't bump them either.scottied67 Thanks this.

hey, just trying to 'shed some light' on the whole issue of running with fog lights on in the daytime, or running with them at night 'just to look cool' because that drivers sorry az truck is 'plain' and that driver is just upset because he only has a max of 11 lights they can have on when compared to 'billy big rig' who has so many, they have to run a car battery to power them all.
sorry, but if you want to run down the interstate in broad daylight with your fog lights on and look like a complete 'tard......be my guest. just trying to help the trucker image from being any farther degraded than it already is....scottied67 and Hamshoe Thank this. -
And the only place you could look was the fog lights? I've never once heard someone degrade a trucker by saying, "Hey look over at that trucker. Looks like a dirty, stinking redneck riding down the highway with his fog lights on."scottied67 and 123456 Thank this.

when i was a company driver i use mine all the time because the headlight were dull on the volvo, so i guess thats y the other drivers do it also
