Doing anything on that engine is a pain in the ###. Just about had enough with changing oil coolers and spending half the day trying to get all the oil out of the cooling system.

Every customer I talk to simply will not buy an International with the Maxxforce. Most drivers know enough to realize this engine is a nightmare.

Just finished one last week, that was a nightmare, i spend all day cleaning that system and still had a tiny bit of oil in it. Now i have to put together a front structure on one where the fan drive shaft snapped clean

I also love how the warranty time paid for such jobs is completely ridiculous!

oh ya, srt time is crap. I know that some srts that are there are just made up numbers. No way the job im doing right now to replace the fan drive can be done in 6 hours. Thats removing the hood, radiator, all the crap to get to the front structure, then to the gears.

I still say some day all us dealers should get together and launch a class-action lawsuit against the OEMs for warranty fraud because the srt times are so bad. Like you said, they are paying us based on "fantasy" data.

As a side note to this discussion, I was checking on the latest regarding the MaxxForce engines and it seems that some of the complaints are being adressed. Like they are moving a lot of the stuff on top to make it easier to access the engine. And they have gotten with Jacobs to put on a full blown Jake Brake instead of the weak compression brake.

Will still have to see how it all plays out.

They were suppose to eliminate one of the intercoolers too for this year, but that hasn't come about yet. That would clear a lot of the clutter!

All of the 2010 13L I've worked on or have seen has only had one intercooler on the right side. The top is now somewhat clear, but the sides are a different story!

My cse/fsm knows how I feel about some srt times, as well as some engineers to. I almost was going to stop doing some repairs because they were too outrageous, egr cooler's was one of them.

2010 engines, The top of the 11/13 is way more cleaner. No plastic valve covers, an actual jake brake and some other changes. The right side of the engine is now more compatible to a cat. still cluttered though. the left side of the engine is about the same. No more 3 box systems, single ecm. ever had to replace an EIM? :banghead:
