Yeah, that seems to be the "problem". Apparently the "slosh" confuses the computer and it goes bezerk.

Keep your old truck. My ride of last 5 yrs has 1.7 million miles on her and I out pull all the new "autos" day in and day out. AND, I know every sqeak, groan and vibration this old girl has. She is clean inside and out, reliable and we get along great. She takes care of me because I take care of her just like the guy before me. Newer is not always better.

Thats just a really dumb move on the company's part. I tried a daycab autoshift freightliner while my truck was in the shop for service and it didn't work out real well. The tanker surge threw the transmission off so bad I ended up headed back to the barn to grab something with a stick. A real tanker driver can shift smoother and smarter than an autoshift can.

You know, a lot of companies are switching to full automatics anymore. Its this whole fuel economy thing. In school I absolutely HATED the automatic transmissions classes...

We heard a lot about how the drivers actually like the autos better because its less 'wear and tear' on them and less thinking. My first vehicle was stick and when you put me into an automatic im still looking for the clutch and stick. It becomes natural. I see a lot of mixed reviews on here about it though. Maybe they should teach what real truckers think instead of what the people sitting in the office who cant drive a stick think.

Yup, but that's what they get the big bucks for.:biggrin_25517: The guy that owns us also owns the Tennessee Titans, so that should tell you all about his skills at hiring management.:biggrin_25523:
