My hubby wants a truck older than 10 years. Is there anyway to get one financed? I mean after all we can get one 9-10 years old that's about to need a new motor or an older one that just had a new motor. But try explaining that to the local bank and they react like you're an idiot!
Anyone finance older truck?

I did mine on a signature loan, with the truck listed as collateral, which apparently is a little bit different than how a normal auto/truck loan is done. My bank (credit union) quit doing that shortly after I bought mine. The only way they'll finance a truck now is with a straight signature loan (higher interest) or with something like a second mortgage, which sounds like a bad idea to me. Sounds like you're running into the same thing. Good luck.

I didn't know banks were even doing signature loans anymore. Our credit is very good, but I figured with the economy that would be a dead end. Guess I'll do some calling around... Thanks!

Good Credit,
heck,
just put it on that black american express card !!!! -
Actually, if you found a Visa/Master Card credit card that would give you the credit you require for the truck for the term you require at a reasonable rate you could do it that way. It's a bit creative but I sense you aren't spending 50 grand.

Are you saying you've tried and found a bank won't lend you $10-15k for a used truck?
-
hell, if ya have GOOD credit ANY used truck lot will finance you. the payments and interest might be high, but it shouldn't be a problem getting approved
-
Just don't put it against the house as in a HELOC or something.
Dealers seem to like that and you NEVER want to put anything like this against your home...
Credit card is a great idea. If you can't pay the bill - they don't take your HOME away from you! -
Some credit card companies have zero percent rates for a limited time, normally around a year. You can apply for one of these cards and pay a transfer fee, usually 3-4% depending on the card and have the money put into your checking account. Once the offer expires the rate goes back to normal. Obviously you want to check what the final interest rate will be and and ideally buy a truck that you can afford to pay off before the zero % offer expires.
If you buy a 25,000 truck it would be tough to pay off in a year but a 15-18k truck is doable.
