I ain't been there in a year or so, but had some good times there. I like the place. No kidding. To me it always had a carnival atmosphere. That's one TS I never got board at. I hope it don't change into some wimpy TS. I also got a copy of PC Miler when I was there last. I reminds me of the old days. Anything you want, you got. The mental hospital at the top of the hill helps to give that special feeling.

What'd they do, burn the place down and slam a Denny's into the ashes? Cause that would be a definite step up from the Jessup T/A I remember...
-
I heard that I did
supposedly the place is all cleaned up now
they had to use a helluva alot of bleach to disinfect that place....stupidest #### set up to get to the pumps too if I remember rightly -
Oh so there making it just like the other ones. The fun is gone.
-
Yes, it was very bad. However, it is now undergoing a program to clean it up. Howard County Police are in the parking lot frequently lying in wait in their cars. I saw three Maryland State troopers follow someone into the movie room and then make an arrest in the hallway. The manager told me that employees make patrols that are not on a scheduled basis and don't go to the same areas always.
The Clifton T. Perkins mental hospital is in Skyesville also in Howard County but the facility across the street is a regular prison. The death row facility for Maryland is northeast of Cumberland. -
Well Andrews AirForce base isn't that far,,,, maybe they dropped a nuke on it?

I stopped there last summer, to get an Ice-T from Mickey D's (I was doing local work in DC and STARVING, I didn't think I'd make it though Baltimore traffic) Of course being directly accross from a truck stop, there's no place to double park a truck in front and of course "no trucker need apply" signs in the lot. Lucky for me, the McD's faces the fuel island and all the lanes were backed up as usual. I pulled behind the only line 2 trucks deep, sprinted accross the street for take-out, and backed out of line to get back on the road.
I haven't seen the actual stop since 2009. -
I think the reason why allot are saying its so great now is becouse they are comparing it to what it used to be. And compared to 4 or so years ago, this is the best truck stop there is. But thats just comparing it to what it used to be. You start comparing it to the rest of the country and its just your average truckstop. It has its ups and downs. Horrible fuel island. Paid parking (although that is a plus and minus). The people at the fuel desk usualy suck. Getting your scale ticket after you have weighed sucks. They do have a large parking lot with easy to get into parking spaces. Lots of showers so there is almost always no wait (although few months ago I had a wait, I was a bit shocked). Large laundry room (although I swear the locals come in there).
Putting the fence in was the best thing they ever did. Man it was horrible before. You would litteraly have somone knock on your door every night before. It was worse then what Atlanta used to be. Infact at its peak I would place money that Jessup had the largest pool of lotlizards. -
Are we talkin the T/A where you get off the interstate, drove past the womens prison, and turned right into a horde of "lumpers" standing in the road trying to flag you down ???
Last time I went near that place I had a delivery down the block.
I laid on my horn and gassed on it just to make the lumpers run.
Ate at that T/A ..... ONCE .....
Great food if you are trying to cure constipation. -
Thats the one with the showers in the basement. I spent a week in that hell hole last winter due to the blizzard on DC. It used to be I wouldn't stop there to save my own life. Just stopped there for fuel the other day. Its not so bad anymore. But still a real dive. The food still sucks and but is great if your into the whole colon cleansing thing. I heard they retiled the showers. But I am not sitting there to find out ashland.VA here i come every time.
And by far the STUPIDEST LAYOUT EVER. You got to enter one way to get to the scales then enter a whole different way to get to the pumps then when you go to leave from fueling you have to circle half the block dodging jersey walls just to squeeze out. I know a 4 wheeler designed that crap and should be taken out back and beat. most aggravating ts set up ever. spend 20 min just trying to find your way back out. -
yea the layout of it sucks big ones for sure but the inside of the ta is nice spent the weekend there awhile back it isnt the best by far but not bad and the dryers work great lol atleast they dry your clothes on the first 2 bucks .food was good service was great and alot of nice people and truckers there to talk to
