Questions for those that know CA, starting 500 miles north of L.A. going to Rancho Cucamonga, would you take the 5 thru Burbank, hit the 134, take that to the 210 or get on the 210 from the 5?...Last time I went thru L.A. it took forever and I would rather avoid it...Thanx in advance!!!!

210 from the 5, no doubt about it. Much easier drive.

    500 miles north of LA?

Why not take the 58 out of Bakersfield. Then the 14 south to 138. Puts you on 15 north of Ranch Cucomongo & bypasses most of LA

I-5 to 58 east to US 395 south into I-15 south into "Rancho Cambodia", uh Rancho Cucamonga. Have fun:biggrin_2559:.

You think 395 is best? I like 138.... It's like riding a roller coaster to me!

Although I enjoy riding across 58 & looking at the Jumbo jets out in the middle of no where. Mojave is actually close enough to the middle of no where.

Dude, you are a glutton for punishment. Nice ride on a Harley, but no fun in a truck. Last time through, I got stuck behind a couple of blue-hairs in a snowbirdmobile going 45 MPH.

I would do I-5 to 210 also but depending on what time you would be getting through there makes a big difference

I guess I'm a minority. I don't think 138 is all that bad. Sure, it's 2 lane. Has a couple curves & only 1 major pull (if I remember correctly) but all in all I think it is a good road.

I've alway been able to run it about 60 mph... Plus it sharpens your truck driving skills. But then again I like 120 out of Benton, CA over to 395 also.... 120 has the most awesome view of Mono Lake.

That's the whole trick right there. Making sure you get your time down. When I was in the Navy I was stationed in Ventura and we had a job in San Diego. Every weekend we'd go home then leave monday morning to come back. Driving through LA at 4 in the morning is a breeze.
