I'm with Superior Carriers, but I suspect most tanker companies are similar. Get your year in and give them a call.lupe Thanks this.

How many applicants with the requirements do they get per job?
I called them and I was dissapointed to hear that they can't let you sleep in the truck in the terminal and you have to go home (which would take a lot of commuting costs besides having to rent or buy a house).
I thought perhaps you could cheat the system by using couchsurfing to sleep for a few days to sleep somewhere close to the terminal.Last edited: Feb 2, 2011

I don't know how many applicants per job opening they get.
I live close enough to a terminal so going home on my break is not a problem. The fact that they don't keep us out for weeks on end is a good thing. But, if you were counting on being on the road enough to not need a home, maybe not so much. -
How often are you required to go home, for how long?
-
I GET to go home generally every other weekend. As I said before 3 weeks is the longest I've ever stayed out and that's only happened once. In early '09 when freight was slow I was home 3 or 4 days a week for the first couple of months, but then it picked up and hasn't slacked up since.
Typically I'll come in Friday afternoon and head out Sunday night or Monday morning. I almost always get a 34 in.lupe Thanks this. -
What is a 34?
-
34 hours off duty to reset the 70 hour clock.

Next question he will ask: What is a 70 hour clock?end of the road Thanks this.
