If you could improve anything about the interior of your semi truck what would it be?

I've now spent a bit of time in the Prostar, so here's what I'd like to see:

The space along the side of the cab (i.e. above the drivers head) is totally wasted. You need cubby holes with space for things like large map books.

The adjustment handle on the steering column is awkward and hits my right leg.

The mid-roof Prostar should have more cupboard space generally,

Make sure the darned thing doesn't leak!

Red overhead light should be included.

And my big gripe - some kind of upper bunk temperature adjustment. Heat rises and if the guy below likes it slightly warm, you can end up roasting upstairs. The current fan is a good idea. Upper vents might help.

Here is my final project for the semi truck interior. I tried to get as many of your ideas in there as possible. Thank you all again for your help!

More INSULATION!!! Most trucks don't have enough insulation. Proper 'R-25' or so insulation in the roofs, sides, floor of the truck would cut the idle time down to reasonable levels. Floors could have a 'false floor' of say, 2" thick insulation with another thin layer of alum. sheet metal. Doors, make sure there is insulation glued to the walls. Eliminate any 'skylights'. Those things leak and a waste of money. They give weird light patterns at night and day too. I always kept the cover on mine. It is a total, total waste to have a skylight, imo. What purpose are they? For someone in top bunk? If he is in top bunk, he needs to be sleeping. Keep it dark.
Make sure driver can reach 'trolley brake/trailer brake' when brakes are engaged. Often the seat belt tightens and it is hard to reach trolley brake. I think that was a KW tho.
Mainly, cabs need major, major insulation in them. Do that and idle time reduced especially with the OptiIdle thing. Engine won't come on as much thus easier to sleep/save diesel/wear and tear on engine.
Have a tray that pulls out while sitting on bed, so you can do paperwork in the sleeper. I haven't been in a Prostar so maybe you have that.

That's some impressive work. I'd love to have something like that if there were options when you order the truck. Like flatscreens on the wall instead of projectors. Preferably on a mount that allows the tv to be pulled out from the wall and positioned were I want it. I just don't like projectors much and since they've never been more than a niche product, they're pretty expensive.

I wouldn't want the cupholder on top of the dash either. Somewhere down to the right within easy reach would be better.

I love the gauges, the wrap around dash, the HUD (someone finally put a HUD in a truck!), the cameras and where the screens are. The fold out part of the dash might need some tweaking. Not all of those trucks will be autos so you'll need clearance underneath the forward portion for the shifter. I don't like banging my knuckles while banging gears.

Those seats look cool but I have to prioritize comfort over looks. They look a bit thin for what they're made of. I like that they can turn in for easier access. I usually drive the Kenworth trucks with the narrower cabs and thin as I am, it's a bit of a challenge to squeeze between those seats to get in the sleeper.

I hate the fact that a laptop stand for a truck is $300 just because it's for a truck, so having one built into the truck would be great. Yes, the tablet is nice, but we love our laptops.

    You guys make me laugh.

    Toilets? Really?

Your steering wheel is a "desk".... get used to it.

If you really want a rolling RV/Tractor combination, then you need to go be a bedbugger and buy one.

Just be glad you got what you do now.
Some of us had MUCH less when we started out........

99% of these drivers are spoiled babies. If they don't have every fantasy amenity they go somewhere they can get it even if it means working for the likes of these bottom feeder mega carriers
