well as i say, i am more inclined to side with the cop as told by the narrator the traffic was backing up or slowing down, and the truck was parked in an 80 kph zone (about 50 mph american)......and also the fact that if you re-watch the video, you will see that another big truck got back into that lane, just as the cop pulled over....to me, this denotes a travel lane, not a parking lane....otherwise, why did that other truck move over into it..???

I sure as hell wouldn't park there as I'd be asking for a wreck. All I'm arguing is: for all we know, it may have been legal. As a truck driver, you may have found, that legal and safe don't always mean the same thing. Donk has suggested that the driver in the video may have been legal to set in the road like that. Myself, having never been there, am not going to argue with him as he has probably run that very stretch of highway and might know better than I as to the legality of parking in that lane, travel lane or not. He might be wrong or he could be right. Hell if I know my guess don't mean much because I've only ever drove in this country. And I'll add that a cop can be as wrong as anyone else and siding with him don't necessarily add anymore value to your two cents than the next guy's. -
speed limits DO NOT dictate if a road allows standing (stationary vehicles) along its shoulder ( or left running lane in this instance )
The cop didnt LIKE it being parked there, but that doesnt make it illegal. If the guy wasnt such an ###, he would likely have been asked to move along.
When those camera crews were out, the cops did have a habit of being dramatic. otherwise the show wouldnt have had much to air.
and yes i do run that stretch of road, and i dont believe there is a no standing area in effect, as ALL the residents cars are parked along there at night and during the weekends.. Notice there is no service lane.Truck Driver and SweetSouthernRide Thank this. -

they are only humans doing a job, eventhough some are over-zealous, so i treat them with respect and engage in a discussion of any conflicted opinions.
This can allow them to see things in another light, or myself to understand police definitions and reasoning.SweetSouthernRide and panhandlepat Thank this. -
the entire ordeal was a trainwreck from the get-go -
